Lions of District 2-S4

Lions of District 2-S4 District 2S4 Lions Clubs are FIRED UP to serve! We serve our communities, in Texas, and around the globe. Visit us at www.district2s4lion.org David A.

Lions International began with a small group of men, led by a Chicago insurance man named Melvin Jones, who wanted to do more than they did in the business clubs of that day. They wanted to “serve” their community. “We Serve” is the motto of this organization, and today it has become the world’s largest service organization with about 1.4 million members. Texas is District 2 of Lions International

. From its beginning of 12 clubs, by 1930 it had grown to 242 Clubs and 8414 members. That year the State was divided into 5 Districts: T, E, X, A, S. Due to the tremendous growth over the years, the State was divided several times. In 1959-60 District 2-S2 was divided into 2-S2 and 2-S4, thus forming our district as we know it today. Evans of Houston was the first District 2-S4 Governor, who later became the International President in the 1968-1969 Lions Year.

🕊️ In Loving Memory of Lion Susan Wallis 🕊️

It is with heavy hearts that the Lions of District 2-S4 announce the passing of Lion Susan Wallis ,who left us on Christmas Eve, 2025.

Lion Susan was a dedicated Lion and a respected leader within our district, serving with heart and unwavering commitment. She was deeply devoted to Vision Service, giving countless hours to vision screenings, and to her beloved Texas Lions Camp, where she faithfully served children with disabilities and medical conditions. Through her years of Lionism, Lion Susan touched thousands of lives, leaving a legacy of compassion, inclusion, and service.

Our hearts go out to her husband, Tom, her children, and to all who are mourning this tremendous loss. We know the love of the Lion family surrounds them; however, we respectfully ask that the family be given space and privacy as they grieve during this time.

Please direct any questions to the District Leadership Team. We will share additional information regarding services and opportunities to pay respects as it becomes available.

In the meantime, for those who wish to honor Lion Susan’s life and legacy, we invite you to consider making a donation to the Texas Lions Camp in her memory—continuing the mission she held so close to her heart.

Lion Susan’s service, kindness, and giving spirit will forever be remembered. 💙💛

The Brazosport Noon Lions Club have been working since May on a project to collect, sort and send used crayons to an organization called Crayon initiative. Crayons are not biodegradable so they are bad for our landfill. We worked with our local school district and collected 350 pounds of crayons. Crayon Initiative will recycle the crayons into new crayons and the send them out free to hospitals for kids going through tough times. The are 3 location in Houston and 1 location in Galveston that they send crayon to. Instead of mailing them we discovered the Staples has a program to collect and send crayons to Crayon Initiative so we saved money by not having to pay for postage. The Staples in Webster was willing to accept our large amount of crayons. John New from Staples helped us unload.
