Bible Verse Of The Day
5/31/25

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭9‬:‭8‬ ‭(NIV)

If you currently find yourself facing an uphill battle, the thought of persevering can be overwhelming. Certain seasons of life can relentlessly bring one obstacle after another without an inch of breathing room in between. In these moments, we need to focus less on the obstacles themselves, and more on how we respond to the Lord in those moments.

Sometimes we go through life asking God to open doors for us, or we seek His blessing for the plans we’ve made without much thought about what His plans for us might be. When this happens, we become frustrated and confused when the doors don’t open and our plans fall apart. We might become resentful of those around us and angry at God. We lose sight of this important fact: Sometimes a closed door is the exact thing we need, even if it results in suffering.

Our personal experiences with suffering equip us for the ministry God is preparing for us to live out. In the moments of our greatest anguish, we must trust that His grace is sufficient (2 Cor. 9:8). We might need a constant reminder of this truth in the hardest season of life. But rest assured, when He delivers us to the other side of our pain and suffering, reshaped by our experiences and reflecting more of His image, we are better equipped to speak into the lives of those who face similar adversities.

Never see your situation as hopeless. The Lord is writing a story in your life for the purpose of offering hope to others, but also to deepen your relationship with Him. Spend time with the Father and openly share your heart, as well as your pain. Ask Him for the strength to endure the challenges you are facing as He writes an incredible story for you to share with the world.

Bible Verse of the Day
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.
Matthew 22:36-39

As I read this passage in Matthew I am reminded how Jesus continues this thought in John 13:34-35 when He tells us prior to His return to the Father…

34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
To quote Tina Turner “what’s love got to do with it?” The answer is everything.

I am involved in a few ministries that are called to serve in different capacities (men’s ministry, food and clothing insecurities, and counseling) and although they seem very different the one common game changer is love. No matter the passion God lays on our heart in how to serve Him with out love being first and foremost it will struggle at best and most likely will not be successful.

When you serve others in love and they feel that love deep in their heart, it makes them curious on where this love comes from. This curiosity will lead to conversations that will allow things like sharing of testimony, listening to their struggles and praying together. This will lead to a hunger they will develop to have the Father’s love more fully in their life and they in one way or another will begin to pursue God or allow His pursuit of them to have a foothold in their lives.

Dear friend today let’s focus on loving the Lord our God with all our hearts (our own gamechanger) and showing God’s love to others (helping be their game changer)

Bible Verse of the Day

2 God also said to Moses, “I am the LORD. 3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself fully known to them.
Exodus 6:2-3

In reading this passage above I was confused why the Father made a point of telling Moses and Aaron that He called himself God Almighty to their forefathers but wanted Moses and Aaron to refer to Him as Lord to the people.

If you grew up reading English these would almost appear interchangeable but if you were Hebrew you would understand the uniquely powerful differences.

I will be the first to admit I am as far from a Hebrew expert as you can be and I can be quite simple minded at times but this incredible discovery was very insightful.

God Almighty in Hebrew is El Shadday which can be translated to mean promises that will happen in time; such as the promises for the Israelite people for the freedom form their bo***ge. This is part of the promises to the forefathers’

When the Father is referring to Himself as Lord which in Hebrew is Yahweh He was telling them two specific things the first one meaning the time to fulfill these promises is now and with the name Yahweh being very intimate, He was telling the people (and a doubting Moses and Aaron) I will walk intimately with you through this.

How incredibly cool and alive the Word of God is. There is definitely amazing power in a name.

A side note it is really insightful and impactful to learn the different names and meanings of God and Jesus.

Bible Verse of the Day
22 Moses returned to the LORD and said, “Why, Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Is this why you sent me? 23 Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble on this people, and you have not rescued your people at all.”
Exodus 5:22-23

What had preceded this interchange between Moses and God; Moses following God’s lead went to the Pharaoh and asked for to take the Israelites into the desert for a few days to worship their Lord. Pharaoh’s response was to quit giving them straw to make their daily brick quota (the Israelites were slaves) and when they couldn’t gather enough of their own straw meet the daily quota they were severely beaten.

As you can see in the exchange above Moses begins to doubt what he heard from God and his mission. As the story unfolds this action of the Pharaoh was used in God’s greater plan to free His people from Egypt and bo***ge.

I think it is important for us to realize when we are called to follow the passions God places in our heart, the road is not typically easy. There are twists, turns, obstacles, and others that get in the way. But as this story unfolds as it will in ours God’s will use these challenges to grow our faith and to show others without a shadow of doubt that the Author of all creation is still writing the story.

It is important to remember our vision is limited to what we see around us, God’s vision is limitless.

Stand firm in the faith He is always working.

Bible Verse of the Day
Jesus at the Temple
12 Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. 13 “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.
Matthew 21:12-13

There are lots of misconceptions about Christians and how we are called to live our lives. One being Christians should never get angry. In some ways it sounds correct, anger has done all sorts of wounding in each of our lives either from us receiving it from others or giving undo anger to others. But it is not scriptural.

People often look at Paul’s writing in Ephesians 4:26 and misunderstand what it is saying ““In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry” and I can see how someone could interpret it to say do not become angry, but that is not what it says, read it again….. “in your anger…” it states there are times we will get angry which is normal sometimes well justified. But the verse continues to warn about when we are angry “do not sin” but there is more to this warning in the following verse “27 and do not give the devil a foothold.”

There is so much to unpack here we will revisit it again with the next BVD, but as you can see in the scripture from Matthew above there are things that we are called to rise up in anger over. In other accounts of Jesus in the temple we learn that Jesus first made a whip of cords that he took with Him. There was some level of premeditated and fully righteous anger.

There is much in life to have righteous anger over, human trafficking, verbal, mental, physical, and sexual abuse to name a few.

The key is to invite the Father into your anger, asking the Holy Spirit to counsel and guide your steps. We will revisit this more next time.

Bible Verse of the Day

10 Moses said to the LORD, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.”
11 The LORD said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the LORD? 12 Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”
Exodus 4:10-12

When I read this passage, I am reminded that we are the only ones that doubt our calling/purpose in our lives. As you can clearly see in Moses story God doesn’t doubt Moses’ ability, the Father created Moses with a passion for his people (which it was his misguided passion that made him leave Egypt to begin with) and heart for their freedom.

The enemy (satan) doesn’t doubt Moses power for he has watched him Moses entire life and knows that if He let’s God lead the possibilities are endless.

You see more than likely the enemy is the voice that has been whispering to Moses his whole life telling him he can not speak eloquently and that he does not have what it takes to pursue this passion; and truthfully absent of God Moses doesn’t have enough of what it takes. But we have all heard these statements of truth below…

God does call the equipped, He equips the called.

With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26

So dear friend, lean into the Father, pursue the passion/calling/purpose in your life with Him in His timing.

I don’t know about you but I needed to be reminded of this today.

Bible Verse of the Day
I haven’t written more than one BVD (Bible Verse of the Day) in the last several years. Last night I had a dream where a mentor from my childhood (who although at the time I didn’t have eyes to see he was a mentor and who passed away last year) through a conversation asked me why I wasn’t writing them anymore. I honestly did not have an answer. So here we are…..

13 Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”
14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”
Exodus 3:13-14
As I was reading these verses I was once again reminded of the power of God’s statement “I AM WHO I AM” and what it means. It is a complex statement, but simply it can be explained as follows.

The Hebrew word used here is "אֶהְיֶה" (ehyeh) which tells us of God's self-sufficiency, eternal existence, and immediate presence.
Read that again and let is sink in, not just in your head but in your heart.

God is all powerful
God has always been here in our past, in the present and in the future
And God is always right beside us no matter what life, the world and the enemy throws at us, waiting on us to lean in an let Him love and guide us through whatever it is we are facing.

I don’t know about you but I needed reminded of this today (and everyday).

Lean into the Father and let Him love and guide today!

Bible Verse Of The Day
8/24/23

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.””
‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬ ‭(NIV‬)

Hearing that you should be strong and courageous is a lofty notion. It’s a pretty idea. It’s something nice to hear, and maybe half way think about…But God changes the game and changes the tone of this concept in verse 9 of Joshua 1. He says, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.”
Command??? He isn’t asking, he is Commanding!

So God, let me get this straight… you’re saying Up there with, ‘Do not steal. Do not kill. Do not murder’… You’re COMMANDING that I be strong and courageous??? Like for real? Ok now I think I’m tracking…

I always thought this verse was a suggestion. It’s definitely one of those verses you see on bathroom walls in a church(not mine of course)…definitely not a verse you’d expect to see right below the 10 commandments. God is so set on us being strong and courageous that He made it a command. God is so invested on us getting over our fears and insecurities that He doesn’t just command strength and bravery, but he backs up His command with His engagement in our lives. He can command us to be courageous because He’s the insurance policy on our success. God is not encouraging us to be strong because we’re great, but because He’s great.

So here’s some really good news for you-there’s never been a better command for you to follow. Most commands feel like things you can’t do and definitely shouldn’t do.. murder…bad, stealing….bad… however this is a command that frees you up to do more than you’ve ever done in your life, it allows you to do things you never thought were possible.. but they are possible…only with God!

The reality for you and I is that when it comes to strength and bravery, it’s not a suggestion… it’s not even a request… it’s a command! You don’t have any other choice but to live your life once on this earth , so follow God’s command.. I challenge you to be courageous, be strong,be brave!

David
