La Estrella a bilingual short film set in a Latino community that opens honest conversations about grief, love and prevention.

Our goal: to create a safe and welcoming space where families can connect, learn and protect one another from the dangers of counterfeit prescription pills and fentanyl.

La Estrella was produced by Song for Charlie’s La Nueva Drug Talk program, in collaboration with Latino families and medical and mental health professionals. Created by and for Latino communities, this film addresses the unique cultural experiences and perspectives around prevention, family and grief in the face of outsized impact of fentanyl and fake prescription pills on Latino communities.

Drug Free Kern will be hosting various movie screenings throughout the county with various community partners. Please join Drug Free Kern with the showing of the short film, followed by a panel discussion.
