Help Williamson residents enjoy a park that is inclusive for ALL abilities and ages.
"ADA compliant" isn't good enough. That's a checklist of minimal requirements to meet standards, not true equality in most cases. Put yourself in the shoes of someone with a disability then ask yourself - IS THIS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME?
Down Syndrome. Autism. Cerebral Palsy. Noonan's. Traumatic Brain Injury. Quadriplegia. Muscular Dystrophy. Missing limbs. Dwarfism. Sensory Processing Disorders. Blindness. Phelan-McDermid. Epilepsy. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Fragile X. Mutism.
Everything. Everyone.
This is about TRUE inclusivity, accessibility, equality, and human rights. Everyone deserves to enjoy their community. That means not just a sidewalk, but a sidewalk a wheelchair could easily traverse. Not just a park with slides and swings but adaptations someone who requires total assistance in all daily living tasks can access. It means trails that accommodate those with walkers and wheelchairs. It means railing. It means safety straps. It means changing tables in bathrooms. It means going out and touching base with the folks who require assistance and will be accessing the community what makes a a space FUNCTIONAL.
Unfortunately, the officials in this specific community aren't responding in a positive way to the families asking for assistance. The people who voted them into office. The people paying taxes to fund the community.
We aren't asking you to fight this battle, we are just asking for a little support.
