ABLE Families' Home Visitation Program - PAT & MIHOW is an amazing resource for pregnant and new mothers residing in Mingo and southern Wayne Counties.

This model program is lead by a team of local, kind and compassionate women. Their knowledge of available resources, lived experience and drive to nurture healthy and thriving families is truly a blessing. Not only do they connect resources and share valuable resource information, they help women set and attain personal goals. Many mothers have been able to complete their education, navigate complex benefit programs, gotten their drivers license, etc.

Community Warning!

Please, please be mindful when outside. Our dear friend, Grace Williams, Director of Big Laurel Learning Center, was bitten by a copperhead last week. She spent 4 days in the hospital, 2 days in the ICU. She is now back at Big Laurel, recuperating from her bites.

Though an avid hiker, known to travel difficult terrain, this happened out in the open, with the copperhead camouflaged by pine needles.

We wish her a speedy recovery and God’s healing touch.
