Tomorrow is the last day to show your support for the Kermit ISD Bond. Voting will be held at the Kermit Junior High School from 7am- 7pm. Thank you to everyone who already voted to support our kids, their education, and the future of our town! Let’s Go, Kermit! Share this post if you already voted to remind your friends and family to come on out and vote for school expansions, school safety upgrades, and fixing all of the facilities for our kids! *Check out our other posts for more info on Propositions A, B, and C!*

There are three Propositions to vote on for the 2023 Bond election. Proposition A focuses on some large projects for our campuses to improve education. It also includes Safety and Security upgrades for every campus. These new safety systems will alert Administrators when a door is left open or forced open and help everyone communicate in an emergency. It also includes adding things like break resistant glass film and security cameras. The district currently does not have access control on exterior doors and the camera systems are very old. These things are needs, not wants. Help us support our kids by voting YES on Monday and Tuesday this week! Or come out on Saturday, May 8th 7am-7pm at the Junior High!

Vote YES for Proposition B! I’m seeing this question a lot. Why should we build a new stadium? Well, because of the following reasons AND because stadiums are not just for football. Track meets, band, cheer, Homecoming, Meet the Jackets and Graduation Ceremonies…our stadium is a hub for gathering and celebrating in Kermit.

Current issues:
The track is too small for us to host track meets. We need to expand it to 8 lanes.

Expanding the track means moving everything.

The artificial turf is expiring and will not be considered safe for concussion ratings. It has to be replaced.

The sound system is failing and often stops working during games.

The lights need to be replaced.

The Press Box is old and leaky.

The Press Box needs to be moved to the other side.

The Scoreboard runs on an ancient Windows XP computer and it is nothing short of a miracle that it still works some of the time. The company no longer makes replacement parts for it.

Not to mention the very old restrooms and concession stands.

Early Voting starts tomorrow! 8am-5pm at the Kermit ISD Administration Building. Let’s come together and do something big for our town!

Where are the Kermit High School Alumni at? My husband and his family graduated from the original Kermit High School and the Yellow Jacket on the entrance floor means a lot to alumni. The District is going to save the Yellow Jacket and display it in one of the new buildings for future generations to enjoy. What a great idea! A lot of thoughtful planning is going into this Bond. Let’s come together and Vote Yes this week! Kermit ISD Admin Building 8am-5pm, starting Tomorrow! April 24-May 2 is Early Voting. May 6 is election day!

There is a lot more that goes into PROPOSITION A but these are some highlights! I love that it focuses on Security for our kids. I’m also a big fan of helping our HighSchool students graduate with Career ready skills like Welding. What are you all most excited about?? Remember to Vote YES for Kermit Kids next week! Did you know that Kermit ISD does not own the softball field? If Proposition A passes, KISD will build brand new fields with artificial turf and locker rooms for Softball and Baseball. Vote YES to the Bond for our Lady Jackets! ⚾️

If you can’t make it to the early voting days, be sure to remember to vote YES for all three Bond Propositions on May 6th, 2023! Our kids deserve these updates to KISD facilities!
