We would like to say thank you to our fellow departments who came out to show support for our brother Ted Stovall and his family for the services today, as he was laid to rest. Rice VFD, Eureka VFD, Powell VFD, RC 287 VFD, Southern Oaks VFD, The American Red Cross, and Trinidad VFD from Henderson County, we are thankful for all of you and your support!

Ted- rest easy, we will take it from here!

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of one of our family and fire members, Ted Stovall.

Ted devoted his life to the fire service, this department, and this community. He joined Kerens VFD in 1961, served as Fire Chief for 10+ years of his membership, and in 2016 received an award for his steadfast service with over 50 years served! He remained an active member up until the last few years, but never left the department. He was an amazing asset, cherished friend, faithful fire family member, and (if you were there and close enough to hear him) a well timed comedian! We will forever be grateful for him and miss him dearly.

Services for Ted will be Friday, July 17th at the Church of Christ in Kerens. Visitation will begin at 10, services at 11, and graveside to follow at 12 at the Kerens Cemetery.

We are asking any department who wishes to honor Ted’s legacy, to bring a fire truck to the services and help us send him off. You can contact Rebecca Bush at 214-577-4785 or Charlie Bush at 903-229-3547 for additional details.

We are so thankful for the annual Poker run and can’t wait to see everyone this Saturday July 18th!

Thank you to everyone who makes this great event possible, donates anything and everything they can to make it happen, and continues to show up every year for our amazing community! Also, a big thank you to Fisherman’s Cove Lodge for always graciously allowing us the use of their facilities to pass out chips! We couldn’t do it without each and every one of you and because of you all, we get to continue to do what we love- protect and serve our community!
