We know we did things a little differently this year, and that was by design. We truly believe it is more meaningful when the community gets involved in who receives these incredible awards. 👏

And To be honest, there are so many deserving individuals in our town that we simply didn’t want the responsibility of choosing . So we let the people who know this community best "you" make that decision.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to vote or nominate one of our outstanding community members. Nominations came in through social media, email, text messages, and phone calls, and every single one reflected the heart of this community.

Each winner is deserving of celebration, and the truth is, our community wouldn’t be what it is without each and every one of them. We are incredibly honored to be a part of it, and we look forward to celebrating our community-driven winners at our banquet on January 30th. 💚

To those who were nominated but not selected this year, please know that your contributions truly matter and are deeply appreciated. We hope you continue to be involved and make a difference in our community, and we look forward to recognizing many more deserving individuals in the years to come.

🏆 Lifetime Achievement Award – David & Susan Foreman 🏆

Some people live in a town.
Others help build it.

We are deeply honored to recognize David and Susan Foreman as the very first recipients of our Lifetime Achievement Award—an honor that could not belong to two more deserving people.

They have been part of this community longer than most people have been alive, their story is woven into the very fabric of Kerens. Time and time again, they have shown up—without applause, without expectation—simply because they love this town.

David and Susan didn’t just talk about supporting Kerens. They put on their boots, rolled up their sleeves, and helped build this city from the ground up. They gave their time, their energy, their resources, and their hearts—again and again—never wavering, never walking away.

Through two thriving local businesses, they have strengthened our economy, created opportunity, and believed in Kerens even when it wasn’t easy. But more than that, they believed in people—the residents of yesterday, today, and those still to come.

Their legacy is not just what they built, but the example they set: commitment, generosity, and unwavering love and support for community they love .

David and Susan Foreman are more than business owners. They are leaders. They are builders. They are the kind of people every town hopes to have—and Kerens is better because of them.

We are truly honored, humbled, and grateful to recognize David and Susan Foreman as the inaugural recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

👏 Thank you for a lifetime of service, love, and dedication to Kerens.

🏆 Citizen of the Year – Officer Terry Jackson

The voices of our community spoke loud and clear
we proudly congratulate Officer Terry Jackson as our Citizen of the Year.

Over and over, citizens shared the same message: Terry doesn’t just wear a badge—he shows up. Day or night. Weekends. Emergencies. When people need help, he answers the call.

From keeping families safe, checking in on residents, mentoring others, helping people turn their lives around, to putting dangerous individuals where they belong—Terry serves with both strength and heart. Many shared how he has gone into dangerous situations, helped those struggling with addiction, protected children and the elderly, and made families feel safer simply by being here.

What stood out most in the comments was this:
Terry truly cares.
About this town.
About its people.
About doing the right thing—even when no one is watching.

Kerens is blessed to have an officer who goes above and beyond, not because he has to—but because he believes in this community.

👏 Congratulations, Officer Terry Jackson, and thank you for being someone Kerens can count on.

🏅 Fannie Mae Vernon Award – Danny Combs

This year, we are proud to honor Danny Combs with the Fannie Mae Vernon Award—one of the highest honors given to individuals who bring people, opportunity, and attention to Kerens from outside our community.

For many years, Danny has been a tireless advocate for Kerens, proudly promoting our town to anyone who would listen. Through his efforts, he has helped shine a light on what makes Kerens special and has played a meaningful role in bringing others here to experience it for themselves.

✨ Keep shining that light and love on our little town—inviting others to come experience Kerens, to enjoy it, and to truly fall in love with the community we’re so proud to call home.

We are truly, grateful for you and all you do đź’š
