Part 9 of Poems on the Trestle-Board; Masonic thoughts for your enjoyment:
MORE LIGHT
We are Masons, aye, and builders,
As we gather in our hall,
And we have been well instructed,
But we do not know it all.
With the Compasses we labor,
And we use the Square aright—
But we can grow still more skillful,
Let us ever seek more light!
We work with Rule and Plumb-Line,
And we plan with loving art,
While our Craft’s symbolic teachings
Are engraved in every heart,
As we journey toward that country
Which lies beyond death’s night,
May our footsteps never falter,
May we ever seek more light!
There are older, wiser craftsmen
We may meet from day to day,
Let us heed their wise instruction
As we journey on our way.
They have secrets to impart us
Which can make our path more bright,
Let us learn from these skilled masters,
Let us ever seek more light!
And the Architect of All Things,
Most omnipotent and wise,
Should receive our daily prayers
As we look up to the skies.
Let us give Him praise and honor,
Let us do right in His sight,
Till earth’s last veil is sundered,
And we find abundant light!
