Yesterday Keokuk Walldogs were here at the Keokuk Art Center painting panels for the new mural. It's wonderful to see volunteers showing up to make Keokuk a more beautiful and vibrant place to be, and I absolutely love seeing the progress made after each painting session.

Wednesday Renee Donley was here to teach a class using hot glue and acrylic paints to create a lovely textured sunflower. I think everyone ended up with beautiful results!

Last night was the first part of our 2 part stained glass mosaic stepping stone class. Everyone created their design plan, cut and shaped glass and glued the pieces to the stones. In 2 weeks they'll be back to finish up and grout the stones.

Stop by the Round Room Gallery in the Keokuk Public Library from 5-7 PM today to view the paintings, meet the artist, and enjoy some light refreshments.

If you are interested in painting on the new Keokuk Walldogs "Keokuk Leaders" mural, there are dates and times coming up - including the next 2 Thursday mornings at the Keokuk Art Center. Bring a friend and help contribute to this wonderful public art project to bring beauty to our community.

We have some painting opportunities coming up. If you would like to participate in painting the "Keokuk Leaders" mural, we have a few work sessions coming up. We will be painting at 910 Timea, Wells Carey School building on Wednesday May 27th, 3:00- 5:30. We will also be painting at The Keokuk Art Center, lower level of Keokuk Public Library, on Thursdays, May 28th and June 4th, 9:00- 11:30. Come when you can, leave when you must and bring a friend or make a new one when you paint with us.

The Keokuk Art Center would like to thank all of the artists that participated in and recognize the prize winners of the 70th Annual Exhibit. This year's Exhibit was judged by Robert Kennon. Photos are captioned with award information. The exhibit will remain on display in the Round Room Gallery at 210 N 5th Street through May 29th.
