Have you heard of the the Auxiliary's Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest?
Beginning in 1979 to recognize up-and-coming artists and encourage patriotism in youth, this contest comprises only two-dimensional entries. Students in grades 9-12 by the March 31 deadline who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program compete to win National awards totaling $37,000.

In addition, we offer a 3-Dimensional Patriotic Art Contest, established in 2022, which invites students to compete to win National Awards totaling $5,500 by expressing themselves artistically in new and interesting ways. Past winning entries have been created using glass, ceramics, wood, mixed media and more.

VFW Auxiliary National Headquarters is excited to share 2025-2026 National President Lois Callahan's special project: the VFW Auxiliary's Continuing Education Scholarship.

This scholarship‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ is available to Auxiliary members, their spouse, son or daughter who are 21 years of age or older and wish to further their education by pursuing a college degree or career direction at a vocational/technical school. While the deadline for entries has now passed, we are continuing to promote Callahan's special project with the hope of increasing future scholarship award amounts and keeping the scholarship going long into the future.

President Callahan knows firsthand how difficult it can be returning to school as a continuing education student. She benefitted from Pell Grants and the emotional support of her Auxiliary while studying to become a pediatric occupational therapist. That's why, throughout the year, members have been fundraising and raising awareness about this special scholarship. We re encouraged by the enthusiasm you have shown thus far - let's keep it going!

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is now accepting entries for its 79th annual Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen youth scholarship competitions. The 2025-2026 theme asks America’s students “How Are You Showing Patriotism and Support for Our Country?”

VFW Auxiliary National Headquarters is excited to share 2025-2026 National President Lois Callahan's special project: the VFW Auxiliary's Continuing Education Scholarship!

This scholarship‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ is available to Auxiliary members, their spouse, son or daughter who are 21 years of age or older and wish to further their education by pursuing a college degree or career direction at a vocational/technical school.

Continuing Ed Scholarship

Could a member of your immediate family use $1,250 to further their education?

The VFW Auxiliary's Continuing Education‪ scholarship‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ is available to Auxiliary members, their spouse, son or daughter who are 21 years of age or older and wish to further their education by pursing a college degree or career direction at a vocational/technical school. Application and an essay of no more than 300 words are due to National Headquarters by February 15, 2026. ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Student scholarship opportunities!

The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States has announced the details of its 2025-2026 Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen audio essay competitions!

This year’s shared theme is “How Are You Showing Patriotism and Support for Our Country?”

Entries are due to VFW Posts no later than October 31, 2025. The VFW Voice of Democracy National first-place winner will receive a $35,000 scholarship; this contest is for students in grades 9-12. The VFW Patriot’s Pen National first-place winner will receive $5,000; this contest is for students in grades 6-8.
