A broken bone doesn't heal on its own, neither does a broken mind......Ladies, please seek help if you need it!!!! You may not even need medication, you may just need someone to talk to that's not judgmental! Hey y'all! I hope that all my SAKQ gals are coming along ok in 2K18! I'm sure some of us made a New Year's resolution to lose weight, and get our bodies BADD, right? But how many of us made a New Year's resolution to get our minds right? Our mental health is just as important as our physical health girls! Statistics show that 1 in 5 Americans experience mental illness every year..... that's a LOT yall! Some little tips to get your mind right in 2K18
1. Take a break from social media. I love the tea, love to lurk and read about bae, the mess, and the drama, but we gotta let our minds rest.
2. Take time to go outside sometimes. Staying inside all the time gives us too much time to think! Again our minds need rest too!
3. If necessary, talk to a counselor. It's ok, don't be ashamed! I talked to one and she was amazing and got me on the right track.
4. And lastly but probably most important: Take a mental health day gals!!!!! Shopping day, take your self to lunch/dinner, go goodwilling, or even just cut the tv off and meditate or journal!

Hey yall!!!!! I don't know if yall know or not, but being a negative Nancy can bring on chronic stress, higher risk of heart disease and stroke, chronic aches and pains, depression and anxiety!!!! So here are some ways to prevent those mental health issues:
1.Be mindful of yourself when you are thinking negative. Try to see positive in all things.
2. Separate yourself from negative people and surround yourself with postive people. The old saying, "You are the company you keep!" is a true statement! Other negative Nancy's can cause the same negative energy in you!
3. Express gratitude even in the storm!
4. Appreciate yourself, regardless. Are you going to always be perfect? NOPE. Are you going to always say and do the right thing? Absolutely not!!! Pick your head up and smile, you will feel better rather than putting yourself down!
Keep this in mind when you wanna be negative and a grumpy Gloria! Plus being negative is not cute nor does it go with lip gloss! Lol! Love yall!

Hey yall!!!!! I hope all is well with everyone as we officially enter the holiday season! I have one simple message for today: "You cannot heal unless you reveal." Simply put, how can you get over something or recover from something if you don't talk about it, or let it out the SAKQ????? Confronting mental health issues and the causes and triggers of mental illness is the best practice yall!!! So practice letting stuff out of the SAKQ!!! Don't stay a bag lady hauling around all that trash, be a Boss Lady and let it out!!! Love yall!

Hey yall!!!!! We have the final say-so for our lives!!! Never feel like your worth is validated from others!!! How you feel about yourself affects your mental health! Keep it positive! Speak this to yourself daily:
1. Who gone make me feel like I'm not cute? NOBODY!
2. Who gone tell me that I'm not qualified or less than? NOBODY!
3. Who gone have the audacity to point fingers at my past as if their past is perfect? NOBODY!
4. Who gone wake up in the morning, thank God for another day, get dressed, adjust the jeweled crown, apply lip gloss, and walk around with the chest stuck out as if I own the world? ME!!!!
It doesn't matter what you've done or didn't do in the past, no one can validate you but you and God! And God doesn't judge nor validate!!! Love y'all!

Hey y'all!!!!! I saw this quote and I thought of all of us and the feelings we have daily!! We haven't always been strong, we haven't always felt we knew our worth, we still have days where we don't feel pretty, and we will never be perfect! But those negative factors that were turned into positive factors make us who we are today!!!!! Take a moment to reflect on your life and what you've been through! Make a promise to yourself to change for the better, and don't forget to add "glittah"!!!!!! Just because life's light may have dulled a little, you add "glittah" and make it better! Thinking negative, speaking negative, acting negative, entertaining the negative, and mainly looking negative!!!! Stop it!!!!! You have to speak and think positivity over your life! This post describes EXACTLY what I want you all to view this page as: something to help you become stronger by gaining a voice!!!! Your mental health is important to you and your family, especially your children. Children react to the environment around them, and if they see you down because you are sad or depressed, they will either pick up your symptoms as their own or display them in untoward ways at school!!!!!! July is national minority mental health awareness month!!!!!! More often than not, minority populations (especially women in these populations) do not seek treatment for mental health issues. The answer underlies in the culture of minorities. I know that in the African American culture, women are taught to be strong, to carry the weight and problems of the family, and if something happens to a woman mentally, she is told to go to church and give it God, and is considered weak if she seeks therapy/treatment. But that shouldn't be the case, a woman should feel empowered if she reaches out for treatment, if she speaks of her mental health issues! Ladies, I challenge you to speak out when you feel something is not right with you! Love y'all!
