Multiple representatives from different households may ride together, however each household must be registered separately and independently. There can only be one registration per household per the form.

Our Communications and Marketing Team is on the road in the Upper Peninsula! We'll be traveling all over to chat with some of our many wonderful UP partners and speak with the community about their experiences with food insecurity and getting food resources.

We're looking forward to this opportunity to connect more with partners and neighbors in the UP and the chance to highlight all of the incredible work being done across the community.

And, of course, we'll be enjoying all the beautiful sights that the Upper Peninsula has to offer.

Thank you so much for having us, UP! We're excited to be here.

Hunger relief is a district-wide effort at Belding Area Schools — and a family-wide effort for Alisha and Shannon Hummel. Alisha has been the site coordinator for monthly mobile food distributions at Belding Area Schools since November 2015. Her husband, Sgt. Shannon Hummel, volunteers even if he must come in uniform because he is on duty with the Belding Police Department. Over the years, children Colton, Jonah, and Hannah have also been regular volunteers.

Alisha recently coordinated the monthly food distribution for the last time because she is retiring from teaching science at Belding High School. She said she cherishes the district-wide support for the program. Working alongside teachers, many young people give their time, including many sports teams, National Honor Society members, and the Miss Belding program. Every building in the school district raises funds to support the program. In addition, several community businesses have also become involved, including Wesco, which raises funds every year and volunteers every month.

What kept her and her family involved for so long?

“We still have a need, especially since Covid and right now the food prices are crazy, and lot of people are coming,” Alisha said. “The numbers are higher than they used to be. Also, it gives our kids in the district a way to learn about volunteering and see the difference they can make. It might seem small, but it makes a huge impact on the people they are helping.”

As an added local touch, Feeding America West Michigan Truck Driver and Belding native Jordan Scheid staffed Hummel’s last mobile. Scheid’s late mother was a long-time volunteer.

We thank the Hummels and Belding community for working with us to end hunger!
