Neutering a male cat offers many health and behavioral benefits. πŸˆπŸ’™

Benefits of neutering include:

β€’ Reducing roaming and urine spraying
β€’ Decreasing aggression and fighting
β€’ Eliminating the risk of testicular cancer and lowering the risk of prostate problems
β€’ Reducing the risk of certain infections
β€’ Preventing unwanted litters and helping control cat overpopulation

Neutering helps cats live healthier, safer lives while also reducing the number of kittens born into homelessness.

🐾 DONATION UPDATE 🐾

Many of you have asked if there is a way to donate online to the Old Tin Cup Kittens Fundraiser for the Hardin County Humane Society. The answer is YES! ❀️

The kittens have set a goal! Lets cover the cost of 50 cats speutered in Hardin County! We are at 4 speuters covered! So while we continue collecting donations in the shop, I've decided to share my PayPal link for those who have asked for an online option.

https://paypal.me/CarmenOTC
*Be sure to select "Friends and Family" when sending to avoid transaction fees*

Every dollar donated will go toward helping fund the Hardin County Humane Society's efforts. The money will go directly into their hands to help our local animals in need.

(Just to clarify, the three freeloaders will NOT be funded from these donations. We are paying for them! πŸ₯°)

After spending days trying to find affordable resources for our three unexpected kittens, I quickly learned just how overwhelming the cat overpopulation crisis has become and how important these programs truly are.

If you'd like to help, any amount is appreciated.

Every surgery helps prevent countless future kittens from being born without homes. These three got lucky. Not all of them do.

Let's help stop the cycle... one at a time. ❀️🐾

You may also donate directly to the Hardin County Humane Society Ohio If you do, please let them know you found them through the Old Tin Cup Kittens Fundraiser!

We're trying to track these three's fundraising efforts to prove they aren't just fuzzy little freeloaders!!! 😹🐾

833 Days.

That's how long Holga has been waiting for someone to see just how special she is.

At 9 years old, this beautiful calico has spent over two years at the Ohio SPCA & Humane Society waiting for her forever family. While kittens and younger cats come and go, Holga continues to patiently watch from her kennel, hoping each visitor might be the one.

If you're looking for a cat with character, look no further. Holga knows exactly who she is: confident, classy, independent, and completely unapologetic about it.

She's not the type to demand attention every second of the day. Instead, she's the perfect companion for someone who appreciates a cat with a little sass, a lot of personality, and plenty of love to give on her own terms.

🐾 Dog-friendly, especially with calm canine companions
🐾 Loves lounging, window watching, and quiet attention
🐾 Independent but affectionate
🐾 Spunky, sweet, and full of calico confidence

βœ… Spayed
βœ… Vaccinated
βœ… Litter box trained
βœ… Ready for a home of her own

Holga isn't looking for chaos. She's looking for comfort. A sunny window. A cozy couch. A warm lap when she's in the mood. Maybe even a laid-back dog friend who understands that she's the queen of the household.

After 833 days, we think it's finally time for Holga to know what it feels like to have a family of her own.

Please share her story and help us find the home she's been waiting so patiently for. ❀️

Well friends... I think it's finally time to tell you a story. 😹
Its been an interesting few weeks... and I'm not even kitten you!

Two Saturdays ago after work, I stopped at the Mt. Victory drive-thru. The guy working there had a box of kittens and was trying to find them homes. Like most small towns right now, our area is absolutely overflowing with cats and kittens. It's honestly heartbreaking.
He said, "Can I interest you in a kitten?"
I said, "A kitten?"
He replied, "Well... there's a few."
I immediately told myself, "DON'T LOOK IN THE BOX."

Now, before I continue, Shane and I had been talking for months about the Cat Distribution System. Our last cat passed away at 18Β½ years old in April of 2024, and we knew that someday we wanted a pair of young kittens that could grow up with our rescue dogs.

I wish I could tell you I carefully thought through the decision I made next.

I DID NOT. 😹

I got out of the car and looked in the box.
Three. THREE. Three baby kittens stared back at me with big blue baby-kitten eyes. IT WAS OVER.

A few minutes later, I was driving away from the drive-thru with an open box full of tiny furry velociraptors armed with needle claws. Only then did I text Shane.
"You're either going to love me or you're going to hate me. It could really go either way." His response? "Ok why."

Now, if you know me, you know that could have meant ANYTHING. I have a tendency to... DO THINGS. 😹Crazy things like buy an antique store and an 1881 building! πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Then I sent him a picture of the kittens that were already riding home with me.
His response? "Oh my."
He opened the picture and about 15 seconds later: "They're cute."
And then, two minutes later, came the text that told me exactly how this story was going to end... "We have litter."
Not "No." Not "Turn around." Not "Absolutely not."
Just... "We have litter."
At that point it was clear the kittens had a home. The perfect home.
But this is only the beginning of their story... and the beginning of a week that would send me down a path I never expected.
Just look at them Look at them! How could I say no?? Couldn't!

Stay tuned for part 2...
