Baseball Beyond Borders Helping student-athletes of color connect their passion with their academic future off the field

05/05/2026

Often, the most important impact is the kind you cannot measure in a single moment. It shows up in how a young person grows, how their confidence builds, and how they begin to see themselves differently over time.

At BBB, baseball and softball open the door, but what keeps young people here is the community, the support, and the belief that they have something ahead of them.

This GiveBIG 2026, we are asking you to help us continue this work and expand what is possible for more youth. Click the link in our bio to donate today.

Confidence does not happen overnight, but the right environment can change how a young person sees themselves.

At BBB, our student-athletes talk about gaining the belief that they can push through challenges both on and off the field.

This is the kind of impact that lasts, and your support during GiveBIG 2026 helps us continue this work. Donation link in bio.

There is something powerful about being in a space where you feel like you truly belong.

That is what we hear from our student-athletes when they talk about what BBB means to them and why they keep coming back.

This GiveBIG, join us in creating more spaces like this for young people in our community. Link in bio.

05/05/2026

For many of our student-athletes, joy starts with simply having somewhere to go and people they can rely on when things get hard.

That kind of support is something we are intentional about building every day at BBB.

If you believe in creating spaces like this, we invite you to give during GiveBIG 2026. Link in bio.

Joy hits different when you see it through your child’s eyes.

That moment when they feel confident, included and excited to show up again.

That’s what Baseball Beyond Borders creates. And it’s why we keep going.

This GiveBIG, we’re inviting you into that kind of impact.

Give today (link in bio). Then share with us… what brings you joy?

The incomparable Dr. John M Perkins () sums it up perfectly. Some people walk through doors. Others make sure there’s no barrier left standing. That’s the legacy we’re honoring today.

Jackson State University's baseball team touched down in the Emerald City, where they were greeted by that famous Seattle liquid sunshine as they took on the Seattle University Redhawks in game one of the HBCU Seattle Series. The rain did not cool Jackson State's bats as they jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and never looked back, coasting to a 5-1 victory. Game two is tomorrow at 2pm at Bannerwood Park, and the series finale is Sunday at 2pm at T-Mobile Park. Tickets are still available for Sunday at: https://www.ticketmaster.com/hbcu-seattle-series-seattle-university-redhawks-seattle-washington-03-08-2026/event/0F006451A7B7ABF4

Seattle… are you ready? This one’s about to be special.

The HBCU Seattle Series is bringing the culture, the pride, and some serious Division I talent when Seattle U () meets Jackson State () at T-Mobile Park ().

From Bannerwood to the big stage at T-Mobile Park on Sunday, this three-game series is where history meets hometown pride.

But what makes this even bigger? Seattle youth getting to sit in those stands and see what’s possible. To realize there are real options, diverse college pathways and opportunities to keep playing baseball after high school at the Division I level.

Don’t wait to watch the recap and don’t be the one that hears about it later.
Be there when it happens!

Yesterday at the Mariners Training Center in Columbia City, the future of baseball was on full display. The MLB ID Tour returned to Seattle for a second year, and the talent level proved exactly why this region is a priority for Major League Baseball.

This "pro-style" workout is about identifying the "gems" in our own backyard. Kindu Jones, MLB’s Senior Coordinator of Baseball Development, highlighted just how high the stakes are—pointing to local standouts Kobe Reese and Cameron Dietrich as the perfect examples. Both players were discovered at this same tour stop last year and are now highly touted prospects in the class of 2028.

The mission is clear: remove the barriers. While many elite camps can cost families upwards of $2,500, Major League Baseball, the Seattle Mariners, and Baseball Beyond Borders teamed up to provide this professional evaluation for free. Bookie Gates and the BBB team have spent years advocating for this level of exposure for Pacific Northwest athletes, and yesterday showed that the investment is paying off.

From high-speed analytics to mentorship from MLB staff, these athletes got a true taste of the big leagues. We are so excited to share the stories of players like Januel Ozuna, Johnathan Parker, and Kealon Gates, who left it all on the field yesterday.

📸 Curated by Erik Kalligraphy.

The full story is coming your way soon. Don't miss the behind-the-scenes look at the next generation of PNW greats on Back2Besa with Besa Gordon on FOX 13 Seattle.
