Vaudery Brown at Mill Creek Middle School received a Kent Schools Foundation Classroom Enrichment Grant titled, "Green Minds Project." Vaudrey shared quotes from her students ~
~Let’s tear the walls down to extend Mrs. Brown’s office and add more students and more fun stuff!
~I feel safe when I am in this room and listened to! She hears us! I can come to this room and think!
~Crying student: Are you distracting me with all this stuff? It’s working!
~This room is so amazing! I feel like working on my assignments now.
~I really appreciate the people that gave us all this stuff!!!

And from Mrs. Brown, "To see the smiles and smirks on students’ faces throughout the day, warms my heart, and uplifts me too. Even Parents and Staff have joined in on the fun! Students have coined my office as The Calming Room. I’m having an official sign made as a result. Thank you for helping with de-escalating emotions and behaviors and supporting learning and positive behavior self-management. I am so appreciative of your support which is making a big difference in the social-emotional world of our students and staff."

Erin Isbell and Marcella Hunter at Meridian Elementary received a Kent Schools Foundation grant for their project, "Voices of Innovation: Learning About Women and BIPOC in STEM; A STEM Voices Showcases." Erin shared, "On behalf of Marcella Hunter, myself, and the students of Meridian Elementary we want to say thank you for your donation to fund our project. With your funding we were able to purchase over 40 biographies specifically featuring the stories of women in STEM. The stories of women who shaped science as we know it today are historically under recognized. With your help and support, we are going to research and learn about these women as well as present and display our learning for everyone in our school to see."

Colleen Nielsen at Cedar Valley received a Kent Schools Foundation grant for the Cedar Valley Tech Club, "Paper Electronic Integration Into Set Design." Colleen tells us, "Cedar Valley Tech Club participants learned how to make simple circuits using conductive tape, LED Lights, and a light activated sensor. Our scholars then integrated this new technology into art, creating color changing tissue paper flowers. We plan to expand on this technology in creating colorful additions to Cedar Valley's Drama Club's spring production of Alice in Wonderland."
