MEET THE CANDIDATES 2026 | CITIZENS FOR KENT SCHOOLS — PROPOSITION 1

Education, community engagement, and the future of our students are important topics as voters prepare for the November 3, 2026, General Election.

Citizens for Kent Schools is advocating for Proposition 1, the Kent School District No. 415 replacement Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) Levy. The measure would replace an expiring voter-approved levy and provide local funding for school programs and operating expenses not fully funded by the state.

If approved, the levy would authorize collections totaling $104.7 million in 2028, $111.1 million in 2029, $115.7 million in 2030, and $121.4 million in 2031. Estimated levy rates range from $1.95 to $1.84 per $1,000 of assessed property value over those years. These are proposed amounts, subject to voter approval.

The measure has generated community discussion about school funding, student programs, staffing, accountability, and the financial impact on taxpayers.

As part of their commitment to civic engagement, they encourage community members to learn about Proposition 1, review the official ballot information, consider different perspectives, and participate in the electoral process.
