We are passionate parents who have children with developmental disabilities, professionals who care about people with disabilities and valued community volunteers. We founded this Organization in June 2009 after more than a decade’s collaboration on projects specifically designed for serving and supporting multicultural families with family members with developmental disabilities and special health care needs.

As students return to school, sensory preferences and needs remain an important part of the learning environment.

Consider:
• Predictable routines
• Access to sensory tools
• Movement throughout the day
• Flexible spaces
• Ongoing communication between home and school

Every student engages with the world in their own way. Creating inclusive spaces starts with respect, accessibility, and belonging. You don't have to navigate it alone.
If you'd like support with any of the above, our team is here to connect you with resources, information, and community.

The Multicultural Village is taking shape!

Since the beginning of 2026, Open Doors for Multicultural Families has reached significant milestones, including securing financing, obtaining permits, breaking ground, launching construction, and developing new community-centered programming.

Today, the project is more than 15% complete and remains on track for completion in 2028.

The Multicultural Village will bring together inclusive early learning, family support services, and programs designed to empower multicultural families and people with disabilities in one welcoming community space.

While construction is progressing on schedule, we still face a $1.1 million construction funding gap and additional fundraising needs to support future programs and operations.

This is more than a building. It's a place where connection, belonging, and opportunity can grow. IF you would like to support our efforts or learn more, please reach out to [email protected] .

We are grateful to everyone helping make this vision a reality. Together, we're building a stronger, more inclusive community for generations to come.

IDD is more common than we think. IDD is an umbrella term that includes disabilities such as autism, Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities. Everything can change 🫶🏽. At ODMF’s recent conference, families gained new advocacy skills, connected with local resources, explored assistive technology, and built relationships with others who understand their journey.
The result? Confidence, connections, and the access to the support children need to thrive!
Because empowerment starts with community.

Jennifer first connected with Open Doors through our Transition School Support program. Today, she's exploring internship opportunities and was recently selected to serve on the Developmental Disabilities Advisory Board of Pierce County.

Jennifer hopes to support Latino families by sharing resources, increasing access to information, and encouraging family participation in community life.

Your support helps create opportunities for community members to engage in leadership, advocacy, and civic participation.

¡Conozcan a Jennifer Ramírez!
