We heard from a local IRS Stakeholder Liaison that if you file a tax return including figures that do not match the IRS records regarding the Economic Impact Payment or advance Child Tax Credit, processing of the return will be held up in Error Resolution. The Stakeholder Liaison advice is that if your client disagrees with the IRS Letter 6419 or Letter 6475, then must initiate a trace. This is for clients who claim the payment was never received, lost, stolen, or destroyed. To initiate a trace,

--Call the IRS at 800-919-9835
--Mail or fax a completed Form 3911, Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund

No word on how long this trace will take, but it is assumed the trace will be faster than waiting for returns to be processed out of error resolution.

Update from the Working Together Symposium Committee:

The Working Together Symposium Committee has determined that the 27th Annual Working Together Symposium seminar will be switched to an online only seminar. We do not make this decision lightly, but with the ongoing uncertainty associated with the pandemic and the related state guidelines, we feel this is the appropriate decision. We hold the health and safety of our staff, members and guest speakers in the highest regard.
