Kent School District (KSD) will hold three community meetings about the Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) Levy on the November 3, 2026, ballot. At the meetings, district staff will explain the levy, what it would pay for, and answer questions.

The EP&O Levy renews local funding for educational programs, services, and staff that the state does not fully pay for. Local levy funding makes up about 15% of the school district's general funding.

The meetings are scheduled for:
Thursday, October 22, 2026
6-7 p.m.
Covington Elementary School Library

Saturday, October 24, 2026
10-11 a.m.
Online via Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams Link available at www.kent.k12.wa.us/levy

Tuesday, October 27, 2026

Our schools, students and teachers are on the ballot this November general election. citizensforkentschools.com

The Kent School District is asking voters to renew an expiring levy that will maintain school programs, services and staffing that are not fully funded by the state.

It is not a new tax! It renews a levy that was previously approved at an updated amount of $1.95 per $1,000 of assessed property value.

The levy provides critical local funding that keeps schools safe, supports student learning and enrichment, and helps provide our kids with the resources they need to succeed.

Ballot drop boxes and the 18-day voting period begin October 16th, and Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd. Vote Yes!

πŸ—³οΈ The Educational Programs & Operations (EP&O) Levy is on the November 3 ballot.
➑️ This is a renewal of the current voter-approved levy, not a new tax. The levy provides about 15% of Kent School District's funding and helps cover costs not fully funded by the state.
➑️ The EP&O Levy helps fund teachers and staff, transportation, classroom materials, school safety, facilities, and college and career readiness.
➑️ Every levy dollar stays in Kent School District to support students.

We're proud of our student athletes! πŸˆβš½πŸ€ But did you know Washington State provides zero state funding for student athletic programs? 😐

That means Kent School District athletic programs rely entirely on local voter-approved levies and community support.

State funding doesn’t fully cover the cost of education! πŸ˜… πŸ“š

πŸ“‰ The state provides funding for basic education, which is $132.6 million BELOW what it costs to serve students.

πŸ“ˆ Local voter-approved renewal levies bridge the gap between what the state funds and what the school district needs for our schools, classrooms and students.

πŸ“Š The local EP&O levy renewal on the ballot this November fills part of the gap accounting for about 15% of the school district’s funding.

🚌 It keeps existing funding in place for school security, bus transportation, sports, mental health counselors, and much more.

βœ… Vote Yes on Proposition 1 to keep our schools funded!
