Delta Xi Chapter, Sigma Delta Xi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI). STTI strives to be the global organization of choice for nursing.

Our mission is to advance world health and celebrate nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service. HISTORY
In 1922, six nurses founded the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International at the Indiana University Training School for Nurses, which is now the Indiana University School of Nursing, in Indianapolis, Ind., USA. The founders chose the name from the Greek words storgé, tharsos, and timé, meaning love, courage, and honor. STTI became incorporated in 1985 as Sigma Theta Tau International Inc., a nonprofit organization with a 501(c)(3) tax status in the United States. MEMBERSHIP
STTI membership is by invitation to baccalaureate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and to nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing. Here are some additional facts about our membership:

Today we honor Sigma's founders.

104 years ago today, six nursing students founded Sigma Nursing on three values: love, courage, and honor. They could not have imagined how far their idea would grow.

Today, more than one million nurses around the world have been part of Sigma: students, educators, researchers, leaders, and nurses caring for patients and communities. If you're one of them, this day is yours too.

Thank you for being part of Sigma's story and for helping write its next chapter.

What public health disparities need disrupting the most?

At the Jeri Milstead Policy Symposium: Bending the Arc: Disrupting Public Health Disparities, nurses, leaders, policymakers, and healthcare experts will come together to explore how inequities are created, reinforced, and ultimately changed through policy and practice.

We'll be focusing on four critical areas:
✅ School Health
✅ Mental & Behavioral Health
✅ Immigrant Health
✅ Public Health Systems

📅 October 24, 2026 | 9 AM - 4 PM.
📍 Ohio University Dublin

Before we gather, we want to hear from YOU: What health disparity, inequity, or barrier to care do you believe deserves more attention and action?
