October 15th is the deadline for any timesheets floating around from the 25-26 school year.

KEA is so excited that one of our very own amazing educators is one of this year’s honorees. Congrats Jessica Justice on this tremendous honor! 🎉

The NEA Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of the 2027 Travelers Awards for Teaching Excellence. This year, 43 public school educators from across the country are honored for classroom excellence, leadership in the profession, and a commitment to expanding opportunities for all students.

Five of these honorees will receive the Horace Mann Award for Teaching Excellence, and one will be selected for the NEA Member Benefits Award, public education's highest honor.

All honorees will be celebrated at the 2027 Salute to Excellence in Education Gala on February 12, 2027, at The Anthem in Washington, D.C.

Our thoughts and hearts are with all those affected by the wildfires in Spokane. The local community has banded together to support one another with the local school district providing immediate support for families with children and Spokanimal providing services for families with pets, as well as countless other organizations who have set up systems for support.

This weekend join KEA at Kent Cornucopia Days. This is a fun event and a good way to participate in our community and city.

We have the booth shifts mostly covered but need more folks to join us in the parade. The route is short, sweet and we won’t be in the heat! Temps will be in the low to mid 70s for the first time in 4 years.

KEA is well represented here in Denver🗻, doing the important and necessary work of the NEA Representative Assembly.

The deliberations, discussions, and debates happening here this week are so important to members in Kent, Washington, and across the entire United States.
