This year at Neely-Soames Homestead Demonstration Garden we have a bed with these juicy little fruits, though they are not yet ripe enough here to head to the Kent Food Bank.

We have left several cilantro plants go to flower in hopes to collect the seed later in the season.

Looking for something new for fall planting? Come visit Cool Plants, Hot Topics at the Bellevue Botanical Garden on Sunday, September 13. This annual event is organized by WSU Extension Master Gardeners in King County and the Master Gardener Foundation of King County for gardeners and plant lovers. We offer a great selection of local vendors who will be happy to recommend a new addition to your garden. Here are three of them:
Washington Native Plant Society: Offering native plants and an information table.
Salish Tree Nursery: Northwest native trees, shrubs, and perennials.
Kiona Native Plants: Offering vibrant perennials grown from seed.

We also offer three informational talks on "Gardening for Change: Protecting and Ensuring our Biodiverse Environment" and -- new this year! -- activities for children.

This past week we took 99 pounds to the Kent Food Bank!

Growing in the garden and getting ready to harvest is squash, garlic, strawberry, raspberry, tomatillo, tomato, potato, eggplant, basil, bell pepper, banana pepper, bean, cucumber, celery, and a few sunflowers for fresh cut flowers.
