Kenosha came out SWINGING last night 👊💨, so hard we had to cut and bleep out some of the audio/footage.⁣⁣

Needless to say, people are reaching their breaking point 🤬 After months and months of NDAs, no public feedback opportunities or town halls, and an overall lack of transparency and furthermore, purposeful secrecy, from our mayor and aldermen, the people are FED UP.⁣⁣

Kenosha residents aren’t backing down now. We’re coming for your jobs, Mayor and Aldermen.⁣ ⁣

And to - in case it’s not clear by now, your big tech disguised as innovation is NOT wanted here. Hyperscale Ai data centers meant to surveil citizens, destroying our precious land, water and natural resources in the process, while also harming our health, increasing our electric bills, putting us at risk of more power outages than we already have - we could go on and on - all in the name of lining billionaires’ pockets 🤑 - yeah, NOT ON OUR WATCH.⁣⁣

To all the new folks who came out last night to speak - WE APPLAUD YOU 👏👏👏 It’s so refreshing to hear new voices and perspectives, and you could feel the PASSION, CARE and HEART in the room. If there’s one consolation to all this, it’s how UNITED we’ve become as a community in this fight. From Bristol to Salem, Trevor and Twin Lakes, Paris and Wheatland - all of us will be affected by this development if we don’t show up for one another now. We all share the same electric grid, air and fresh water. Every voice matters 📢 We hope to hear yours at the next meeting. Stay tuned for more info coming soon. For anyone who wants a yard sign 🪧 and hasn’t claimed one yet, we’ll be handing them out for free at tomorrow’s meeting!

Join us in solidarity 💪 Whether you’ve prepared a few words or just want to listen in, we really can use all the help we can get to show force at these meetings. If this is your first meeting, you won’t be alone! Head there 15 min early and we’ll come find ya 🙂

If you need help coming up with what to say, just remember, saying anything is better than nothing. Simply stating that you have concerns about how this is being rushed through resonates.

We hope to see you all there. After all, all the support on social media only goes so far - it’s taking the next step to take action that propels us further! Imagine if all 1,500 of you guys showed up 🤯

Oooh it was a hot one today! 🔥 Thanks to our volunteers for putting in WORK today in the hot sun, and thanks to everyone who stopped by today and showed their support! We handed out dozens of yard signs and flyers (and had to call for back up to bring more over!) and had lots of encouraging conversations. Many folks are aware of and upset by the proposed hyperscale data center and gas power plant.⁣⁣⁣

We even saw the mayor and one alderman! Mayor didn’t want a flyer though 😢⁣⁣⁣

That’s okay, we’re building massive momentum, all through grassroots advocacy 💪 We can’t do any of this without all of you guys behind us 🫶🏼⁣⁣⁣

On Monday, one of our members touched on the City’s use of nondisclosure agreements, contracts with Flock, and infallible support of the Microsoft Data Center.

Despite Montana going over her time, she made important observations of the AI-powered surveillance state, the harms that data centers will have on our Great Lakes, and the forced adaptation of AI usage.

We reiterate our need for a 1-year Moratorium on data center construction to make sure that the facilities do not inflict harm in ANY way on our community.

Continue to call your alderpersons, attend public meetings, and educate your neighbors!!
