We get asked a lot how people can help. Well here’s 5 small steps you can take that will help us in a BIG way:
1. It might sound useless but every follow and share from our social accounts here and on FB really do help move the needle 🪡 Follows, likes, shares, adding to story - are all digital currency and help push our message to a wider audience as well as provide social proof that this issue matters to the people.
2. This one can be daunting 🫣if you’ve never attended a common council meeting (I hadn’t either until this movement!) there’s a first time for everything and every body in the room adds to the pressure our elected officials should feel to address their citizens’ concerns. If all you do is listen, that’s still showing up for your city. But better yet, speaking up helps! Whether you say a single sentence or deliver a 3 minute statement, it helps to have new faces and diverse speakers to show this issue matters across the board. We will have support before the meeting starts if you’d like to show up early for a little encouragement 😌💪🏼 625 52nd St, Kenosha
3. Now this one is easy! Chat up your local barista at your next coffee run ☕️ , let your neighbors know, or strike up a convo with the other parents at school pick up/drop off 🚌 So many people simply don’t know this is happening. Letting people know allows them the chance to form an opinion and hopefully, get involved.
4. Knock knock ✊🏼 We’ve had a lot of fun door knocking different neighborhoods. This is something you can definitely accomplish on your own or with friends/family, but if you’d like to join our door knocking team, send us a DM and we’ll let you know when we’re hitting the streets next 👟😊
5. Lastly - drop a comment below on what actions you’ll be taking or ideas you have. Our team of organizers is constantly looking for new ways to get the community involved and we have a lot coming up - so stay tuned! 👀
