Wisconsin is a maker state.

A recent report from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Center for Research on the Wisconsin Economy (CROWE) found that companies with plants in the border counties of Wisconsin and in Wisconsin as a whole are benefitting from the Manufacturing and Agricultural tax Credit (MAC), introduced in 2013.

Between 2012 to 2025, manufacturing employment grew 21% more in Wisconsin than it did in Illinois. That’s nearly four times as much as other industries such as health care, retail and restaurants, which grew 5.5% during the same period.

In September, we highlighted . Nosco is an employee-owned printed packaging manufacturer specializing in cartons, labels, flexible packaging, inserts and other packaging solutions, with a strong focus on the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.

NOSCO was founded in 1906 in Zion, IL as the National Office Supply Company. The company relocated to Waukegan, IL in 1965 and then to Pleasant Prairie, WI in 2021. NOSCO celebrated 120 years in business last month. Congratulations!

Southeastern Wisconsin’s strategic location, skilled workforce and strong ecosystem for pharmaceutical manufacturing are among the competitive advantages that attracted Eli Lilly and Company to Kenosha County - and the company sees even more opportunity ahead.

This week’s WisBusiness.com: the Podcast features Serafino Fabiano, site lead for Lilly’s Kenosha County Government facility, discussing the company’s rapid growth and continued investment here. Since acquiring the site in 2024, Lilly has earned FDA approval and begun producing Zepbound and Mounjaro, while a major expansion continues.

The facility is expected to support 750 highly skilled jobs, plus thousands of construction jobs and opportunities for local contractors and service providers. And with cranes still rising at the site, as Fabiano puts it, “the best is yet to come.”

Building Our Future and its community partners have launched the Kenosha County Parent Child Care Needs Survey to better understand how child care access, affordability, and availability impact families across our community.

BOF has spent time listening to child care providers. Now, they want to hear directly from families. The insights gathered will help inform community planning, strengthen strategies, and ensure future efforts reflect the experiences of those most impacted.

Please consider taking the survey if you have children in child care in Kenosha County. Employers: please consider sharing the survey with your employees to make sure families across Kenosha County have an opportunity to be heard.
