The City of Kenosha, Wisconsin Government is putting a former school site on the path to redevelopment, with plans for a 28-home single-family neighborhood at the former McKinley School site.

The city expects to begin seeking proposals from homebuilders within the coming month and to put infrastructure work out for bids early next year.

The effort comes as the city continues to reposition underused school properties for new housing. Plans for the site call for 28 residential infill lots, a new public street and an existing 1.5-acre neighborhood park.

The Village of Pleasant Prairie has moved to expand a tax incremental financing district.

The board recently voted to add new territory to TID 11, a move officials said will stimulate additional commercial, industrial and residential growth in the area.

The district currently encompasses some 1,000 acres of land mostly west of Interstate 94 (Wilmot Road to 122nd Street, between 114th Avenue and just west of 128th Avenue). The district is primarily industrial and already includes the HARIBO property.
