Kenosha Area Weather Spotters is a nonprofit organization located in Kenosha, Wisconsin and is made up of weather enthusiasts, some are licensed amateur radio operators while others are just ordinary individuals trained and/or certified in weather spotting and reporting to raise awareness and preparedness
For anyone interested, Spotter Training Classes are usually held in the spring during the mo
nth of April at the Kenosha County Center located at HWY 45 and HWY 50 in Bristol, WI these classes are free of charge and open to the public of all ages. You can listen to our live broadcasts if you are local to Kenosha, Wi using a scanner and even communicate your weather reports to us using a GMRS/FRS two-way radio that can be purchased at electronic stores such as: Radio Shack and Chesters Electronics and outdoors stores such as: Gander Mountain or Farm and Fleet
We use the radio frequency of: 462.625mHz or channel 4 code #19 on a GMRS/FRS radio
We also use Zello Walkie-Talkie which is a smartphone app that can be used anywhere in the world that you have cell phone or WiFi coverage and is available free of charge for download from the Android and Apple iPhone markets. Once downloaded create a free account with Zello then do a search for the channel: kenosha storm spotters
Please keep in mind that storm chasing can be extremely dangerous and life threatening and is NOT recommended if you dont know what your doing so be smart and use common sense when spotting potentially dangerous weather conditions!
