Come for a book. Stay for the vibes. 📚

Blue House Books started as a pop-up in 2017, opened its first Downtown Kenosha storefront in 2020, and moved into its current home a year later. Owner Samantha Jacquest calls it a general interest bookstore, which means there's truly something for everyone: adult reads, kids' books, everything in between, plus bookmarks, book holders, and some very fun coffee mugs.

It's also a gathering place. There's a general book club that reads a little bit of everything, and a Banned Book Club for the titles that spark a bit more conversation. Add children's story times and author events (they just hosted one with about 100 people!), and you've got a calendar worth following.

As Samantha puts it, Blue House Books is more than a place to buy a product. It's the staff recommendations, the ambiance, and all-around good vibes.

🎃 👻 Halloween fun is taking over downtown Kenosha on Saturday, Oct. 24! 🧟‍♂️ 🚲
The City of Kenosha and Lakeshore Business Improvement District are bringing Fall Into Fun Fest to Veterans Memorial Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by Downtown Trick-or-Treat and Trunk-or-Treat from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Municipal Building parking lot.
Bring the kids for:

Then, when the little ghosts and goblins head home, the adults take over!
The 𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐙𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲 will bring costumes, bikes, live music and Halloween fun to downtown.
🚲 Zombie Bike Crawl: Registration at 5 p.m. at Union Park, ride begins at 6 p.m.
🎶 Block Party: 3 to 11 p.m. on Sixth Avenue
🎸 Floral Gin: 3-5 p.m.
🎸 Spirit Shakers: 5:30-7:30 p.m.
🎧 DJ Rhino: 8-10 p.m.
🍺 B**r and seltzer available for purchase
The Zombie Bike Crawl will make stops at Union Park Tavern, Boat House Pub & Eatery, Captain Mike’s and Fec’s Place before finishing at the Block Party.
Costumes are strongly encouraged. The spookier, sillier or more creative, the better!
