Community connections make Kenosha County stronger!

Today, KAFASI Executive Director Shebaniah Judah was proud to attend the Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce’s 110th Annual Meeting, connecting with friends and community partners, including incoming Board Chairperson Tamarra Coleman and Chamber Executive Director Dave Strash.

Shebaniah also enjoyed sharing a table with representatives from Pillar Health, a Division of KCHC, the City of Kenosha, Wisconsin Government Mayor David Bogdala, and Dooley & Associates.

For KAFASI, these connections matter. Strong partnerships among local businesses, nonprofits, and community leaders help strengthen the network of support available to older adults, adults with disabilities, and families throughout Kenosha County.

KAFASI is here for our community through every stage of life. We help older adults remain safe, healthy, independent and connected. We support families and parents. We connect volunteers with meaningful opportunities to serve. And when someone doesn’t know where to turn, we help connect them with resources that can make a difference.

Our programs include Meals on Wheels, volunteer transportation, senior dining, companion programs, home repair, parenting education, anger management classes, AmeriCorps opportunities and much more.

It takes the support of our community to make all of this possible.

It’s more than a ride. It’s independence, connection and a helping hand.

For many seniors and adults with disabilities in Kenosha County, getting to a medical appointment, the grocery store or the bank isn’t always easy.

KAFASI’s Volunteer Transportation Program connects people who need a ride with caring volunteers who use their own vehicles and a little of their time to make a BIG difference.

🏠 The KAFASI Senior Home Repair program continues to support and help our seniors remain in their home as long as possible. Partnering with Ace Handyman Services of Kenosha we conintue to do small projects that go far beyond the scope of work. Whether it is installing ramps (as shown), fixing or installing porch rails, fixing floor boards, light plumbing, or grab bars, we are here to help our seniors. 🔨🔧🔩

Thank you to the generous donation from Helping Homebound Heroes through Meals on Wheels America and The Home Depot, we can continue to help veterans. And donations from foundations such as United Health Care Foundation, The Rotary of Kenosha we continue to help seniors overall.

New this year, is TWO great soup tasting and competitions so that everyone has a chance to take part in this great event supporting seniors and families in Kenosha County.

Event 1:
🥣 Lunch: Best Soup West of I-94 | 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Come out, taste soups and decide the best soup West of I-94. Enjoy baked home goods, raffles, and have a great time.

Event 2:
🥣 Evening: East vs West Soup Showdown | 4:30 p.m. – 7:00
Come out, taste soups and decide the best soup of Kenosha County. Live Music, cash bar, silent auction.

On 9/10/2026 the KAFASI AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent program held their back to school in-service training. It kicked off with lunch from Ruffolo's Special Pizza 2

Next was a series of Speakers: Joy from KAFASI spoke about the senior center without walls and the friendly visitor program. Then Wisconsin SMP Program Director Ingrid Kundinger with the Wisconsin Senior Medicare Patrol program spoke about Frauds and Scams and how to recognize them. All of the volunteers had a great time, but more importantly are happy to be back in the classroom serving as tutors and mentors.

☔🚗 Rain or shine, our Meals on Wheels volunteers show up. ☔🚗

Today, we’re giving a special shoutout to Laura Freeburn of Piasecki Funeral Home, who proves that a little rain won’t get in the way of making sure our neighbors receive the meals, connection, and care they count on.

For those who receive KAFASI’s Meals on Wheels services, each delivery means so much more than a nutritious, hot meal delivered directly to their home. Our friendly volunteers also provide important social connection for individuals who may feel isolated or lonely, along with a daily well check that helps ensure they are safe and able to continue living independently in their own homes.

And volunteers like Laura make it all possible. 💜

Do you have a lunch hour to donate? You can make a meaningful difference in someone’s day simply by delivering a meal and sharing a friendly smile.
