When you lose a gundog, their replacement has some big paws they can never truly fill.

Ragnar will never be Raji. That's just the brass tacks of life.

Until this week, I was having trouble loving Ragnar in the same way. He was trained as a tool for the field, and we had not built a deep connection.

After several days of grinding out 2x a day hunts, our training process was coming together, and WE were operating on all cylinders. I was so proud of my new boy.

Coming back in the duck rig tonight, we looked at each other, and all was at peace. We are bonded by our waterfowl affairs.

His predecessor was pleased from the next life. I love them both equally even though it will always be differently.

Lot of people to thank in the culmination of getting this dog on point.

I lost my best friend and the love of my life , 8/6/2024 , would have been 23 years from 8/18/2021 she would have been 61 on 9/11. The toughest and kindest woman, every one ❤️ her.

RIP - So sad today for my boy and our family. Powder went peacefully to doggie heaven to join Copper and Hank. She was just 10 years on 8/17. She was such a good dog.

1045 this morning Heaven got another good boy. Born 10-29-2009. Handgun Hank was almost 14, he's sired over way 100 pups than live on and carry his genes all over the midwest. He will be missed greatly 😢.
