We’ve secured funding to provide winter hats and gloves for 30 classrooms, and we’re getting ready to get them into your hands!

We’re planning TWO pickup opportunities:

We know how much teachers give to their students, often reaching into their own pockets to make sure little ones have what they need. We’re pretty excited to return the favor!

Pictures don’t even begin to capture how beautiful these quilts are. Every stitch represents someone’s time, talent, and kindness. Knowing they’ll bring warmth and comfort to someone going through a difficult time makes them even more special.

What does a crisis look like?

Sometimes it looks exactly like a normal Tuesday.

A parent loses a job.
A family suddenly has to leave home.
A caregiver takes in a child with almost no notice.
A loved one dies.
A medical emergency wipes out the grocery budget.
Someone leaves an unsafe situation with only what they can carry.

Crisis doesn’t always come with flashing lights. Sometimes it’s simply the moment when what you have is no longer enough for what life just handed you.

And needing help during that moment doesn’t define a person.

That’s why OVN exists.

We can’t fix everything someone is facing. But we can make sure they have some of the basics, a little comfort, and the reminder that their community sees them.

Because you never know when you might need your village. 💙🧡

💙 WOW! We are absolutely blown away by the response from Wisconsin teachers! We knew there was a need, but you all really opened our eyes!

And we have some exciting news! ❤️ We’ve managed to secure funding to provide 30 teachers with FREE winter warmth kits to help keep little hands and hearts warm this winter! 🧤🧣❄️

Now, we’re still waiting on YOU to do your part! 😉 Get creative with those classroom names and send us pictures of your classroom setup before October 15! That’s all we’re asking in return!

We’re working through the logistics and will share more details soon, but we wanted you to know that we heard you, and the village is showing up! 💙🧡

💙🧡 Last-minute village meet-up!

We know this is SUPER last-minute, but some of our OVN team will be at the Kenosha Public Library’s Uptown location TODAY (Tuesday) from 9–11 AM!

We’ll be coordinating a few kit pickups, but more importantly, we’d love to connect with people who have ideas about how we can make our kits more accessible throughout the community.

Maybe you own a business that could serve as a kit distribution location. Maybe you work with families who could use our support. Or maybe you just have a great idea or connection you’d like to share!

Come say hello! No appointment, no formal meeting. Just a chance to share ideas, make connections, and talk about how we can keep building this village together. ❤️

💙 Sometimes the village needs a little help, too.

First, I want to say how incredibly grateful I am for the way our community has shown up for Our Village Network. You’ve volunteered to pack kits, connected us with families who need help, donated supplies, shared our posts, and sent messages of encouragement at all hours. And believe me, those messages mean more than you know. ❤️

But as we’re approaching 1,000 kits delivered, I’m realizing that what we do is sometimes a whole lot bigger than putting things in a bag.

It’s building relationships, earning trust, coordinating with families, and figuring out how to get help to someone when they need it most.

And sometimes, making those connections is the hardest part.

We’re still trying to get people to understand that we’re here, we’re not going anywhere, and there’s genuinely no catch. Our kits are free, and we’re simply neighbors helping neighbors.

Here’s where I could really use your help.

Between working full-time, raising a family, and running OVN, I can’t continue doing individual home deliveries. We’ll be moving toward scheduled pickups at libraries and other public locations.

But crisis doesn’t happen on a schedule, and I don’t want anyone waiting for help just because I’m not available.

💙 My goal is to find 10 or more trusted locations throughout Kenosha, Racine, and Pleasant Prairie willing to keep a few OVN kits on hand.

Libraries, police and fire stations, schools, community organizations, or local businesses. We’ll provide the kits at no cost. We just need partners willing to help us get them to people who need them.

Do you know someone who could help us make those connections? Even a simple introduction could make a huge difference.

I don’t want to slow down what we’re building. I want to make sure we can keep doing it for years to come.

Because the goal was never to build something that depends on me. It was to build a village. 💙🧡

And I think we’re well on our way. ❤️

Kylee, our amazing Volunteer Social Media Manager, usually handles these posts, but tonight you’re stuck with me! It’s 1:18 AM, I’m still wide awake, and this probably breaks every social media rule she’s ever taught me. Sorry, Kylee! 😂💙

I took the day off from my actual paying job to focus on OVN, and what a DAY! Thankfully, I got to spend it with my BFF, partner in crime, and an absolute powerhouse of a woman. She’s my other soulmate, and somehow even the craziest days are fun when we’re together. ❤️

💙 Delivered approximately 200 kits to the Shalom Center of the Interfaith Network! The work they do for people in our community is so important, and I’m just grateful we get to play a small part in it. It takes a village, and I’m thankful they’re part of ours.

💙 Dropped off 400 hand warmers, a dozen mini hygiene kits, and samples of a few other kits Hope Council. What I didn’t expect was the incredible conversation that followed! Michelle has been in the nonprofit world for years and was so generous with her time, sharing tips, tricks, and hard-earned wisdom. I soaked up every bit of it! Talking with her gave me literal goosebumps. Some people are just in it for all the right reasons, and it radiates from their pores. She’s one of them. ❤️

💙 Delivered kits to one family in need. Then another.

💙 Visited All For Them Co. Them Co. in Caledonia, a cake pop stand straight out of a storybook! The woman behind it is an absolute badass who has made supporting the domestic violence community part of her business, including the Women’s Resource CenterRacine, Wi. She agreed to help distribute our kits, and somehow WE left with gifts! 😂 Her sweets are AMAZING. Please go show her some love!

💙 Snuck away for a scary movie with the girls. The perfect brain break, but I’m so picking the next one! 😂🍿

Then I came home to half a dozen new kit requests and more from teachers interested in our Blessing Tree project. I got another while writing this.

And here’s something that really made me smile. One of the people we delivered kits to turned around and shared a post about OVN in Wisconsin Townhall. That one act of kindness led to someone reaching out about helping us distribute hygiene kits in Racine!

Someone we helped found a way to help us help someone else. 🥹

And tomorrow morning? Coffee with an old friend who has an idea for helping OVN. I can’t wait to hear what she’s thinking!

Some days, it just feels like everything is coming together.

Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of days when I’m exhausted and wondering how we’re going to keep up. But then a day like today happens, and I’m reminded just how many wonderful people are out there.

People sharing what they know. Businesses opening their doors. Organizations working together. Families trusting us enough to reach out. And people helping other people simply because they can.

When I started OVN, I just wanted to help a few people. I never imagined how many incredible people I’d meet along the way.

I’m learning that the village was already here. Sometimes we just need to find each other. 💙🧡

My heart is ridiculously full.

And if I’ve forgotten anything or anyone, please forgive me. My eyes should’ve been closed hours ago! 😂
