A full house was on hand to join Governor Tony Evers and Mayor David Bogdala as they marked the opening of the Kenosha Innovation Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday afternoon. I’m pleased to add that I’ve supported this project that will provide opportunities for innovators, startups and community partners on the site of Kenosha’s once sprawling AMC then later, Chrysler auto factory complex.

Kenosha industrialist and philanthropist Zalmon Simmons commissioned world-renowned architect Daniel Burnham to design the library, named after Simmons’ deceased son. The structure was bequeathed to the city, so long as the city created funding needed to administrate the library.
