Hello friends,

This is your reminder that our Encore picnic is this Thursday, August 27th. There will NOT be transportation from the church, but we will meet at Petrifying Springs park at Pavilion #3 from 12:00 – 3:30. Pavilions are marked and there is parking close to each one. That park is easy to find, about 20 minutes from church headed north on Green Bay Road. The address is 5555 7th Street, Kenosha, WI 53144. If you head north on Green Bay Road, you will turn right on 7th St. (that is after you pass Highway E but before you get to KR). After you turn onto 7th, the park is on the left side of the road with a sign at the entrance. Follow the main road until you get to the Pavillion #3. That’s where you will find the rest of your friends.

In the pavilion there are tables and seating for all of us, but if you want to be comfortable after eating, please bring your own lawn chair. The cost for the day will be $15/person for the meal which will include hamburgers or hot dogs; chips; potato salad; pasta salad; fruit; dessert and a drink. The afternoon will include yard games and lots of fellowship. It’s always fun to catch up with friends at these events. We asked you to sign up by this past Sunday, but if your plans have changed, please let me know that you are able to attend, and you can pay at the event.

Please keep praying for:

Church Staff and Board as we go through this Senior Pastor Leadership change
Pastor Kevin and Joelene as they take on their new position as Network leaders that they can sell their home here.

Nan Lentz’s son Bert needs a touch for physical healing. The diagnosis of Lymes disease is not correct, and he is back in the hospital in deteriorating condition. Please pray for healing.

We received word this week that Ruth Bradley joined her husband in heaven – and I’m sure they are both enjoying sitting at the feet of Jesus and worshipping together again. We have not received any funeral arrangements.

Nan Lentz’s son Bert needs a touch for physical healing. He has been diagnosed with Lymes disease, which is tough, but it is treatable.

Linda LaPouce’s son Victor passed away from his cancer. He assured his mom that he had prayed for salvation. While Linda is sad for her loss, she is relieved to know that his heart was right with God.
Linda also has a 93 year old friend named JoAnne who needs a special touch.

Eda Higgins son Rocco passed away after a recent heart attack. Pray for Eda and her daughter Juli and other family members as they walk through this season of loss.

Encore Activities // Kenosha

Happy summer friends,

I am so sorry for the delay in getting information to you about the boat trip we have planned for next Thursday, July 16th. We have been working on details, and finally have enough to let you know how to plan.

We will leave the church at 10:00 – from the front parking lot. We have hired a coach bus so we will ride in comfort – even if it’s hot outside! We will head to Pizza Ranch in Elkhorn for lunch at 11:00. You are responsible for your lunch, so about $15.00/person will cover that, which will include your drink, full buffet of salad, chicken and pizza and dessert. Following lunch we will head to Delavan for our boat ride at 1:00 – which will last about 1 ½ hours. We will head back to Kenosha from there so it will be mid-afternoon when we return.

August 27th is the day for our picnic at Petrifying Springs Park. Details coming soon!

For those who are going to Toronto with us this fall, your money is due soon. Let me know if you need to know your balance.

Please be praying with these families for special requests…
Linda Lapouce’s son Victor is very sick and they can’t find a reason. She asked us to pray for answers and healing.

Nan Lentz’s son Bert is struggling with a very debilitating illness which the Dr’s are trying to diagnose. He is discouraged and needs God’s peace and healing.

Larry George is having back surgery next week and is asking for prayer for relief from the constant pain he has had for the past several years.

We know there are others who have special requests. Lets join together in prayer for our friends.

Blessings,

Marge – for Pastor Dan and Alexia

On May 21 and 22, the ENCORE GROUP went on a 2 day trip to Shipshewana Indiana. We all enjoyed the fellowship, sight seeing, shopping, food and entertainment.
Since we had so many pictures from being there, I decided to post the trip into two parts. The first are the photos my wife Barb and I took and part 2 are the photos that were later e-mailed to me by Lorilee Adams, Pamela Leonard and Anu Colon. Thank you all!

Encore Activities // Kenosha

Happy Midwest Summer,

Our next Encore event is the train ride out of East Troy. If you have not signed up, I am sorry to tell you that the trip is full. If you are signed up, here are some details you have been waiting for. If you have questions about being on the list or if you have paid, don’t be afraid to ask.
Date: Thursday, June 18th
Cost: $25/person
Leaving Church: 9:30 AM
Trip plan: Leave East Troy, go to the Elegant Farmer, then head back
Lunch: About 1:30 at Gus’ Drive In

Gus’ Drive-In is a classic 1950’s style diner known for its burgers, fries, shakes and frozen custard, offering a nostalgic, family-friendly atmosphere with diner décor. The menu includes typical diner fare like gyros, hot dogs and fried chicken, along with specialty items like the “Giant’s Burger” and “Screamers” (Custard slushies).

We are suggesting that you bring a snack along as we won’t be eating until after our complete ride, which will be about 1:30. You will have options at the Elegant Farmer if you want to pick up something there. We will head back to Kenosha after our lunch in East Troy.

If you signed up but find that you cannot go, please let us know as there are people on the waiting list for this event.

For everyone else, there is still room on the trip to the Lake Lawn Queen Scenic Boat trip on July 16th. The cost for that day will be $30 for the boat ride which is 1 ½ hours + money for lunch. There are not a lot of other details yet, but let us know and pay so we can know how to plan for transportation and the other details involved.

Our trip to Niagara Falls and Toronto is also filled up, but if you you are signed up you can make payments anytime. The cost of the trip is $1350.00/person, and everyone has paid their deposit. The balance will be due by August 2nd.

Tommye Sardin who is a friend of Encore and Journey Church is also a tour guide. She is planning a trip with Diamond Tour Group to Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and New York City. If you missed our trip a couple of years ago, and would like to go with her group, you could see all these sights for $1525.00/person. If you mention that you are from Encore, she will give you a $30 discount on your trip. You can contact her at (312) 623-6510 for more details.

Please keep praying for:
Church Staff and Board as we go through this Senior Pastor Leadership change;
Pastor Kevin and Joelene as they take on their new position as Network leaders
Our friends who have physical needs
Families who have recently lost loved ones
Charlie Labanowski passed away last Sunday as he was getting ready for church
Betsy Wagner-Schiffra’s son was in a terrible motorcycle accident where his girlfriend was killed, and he is in the hospital with very serious injuries. Pray for them as they go through this horrible time both physically and emotionally.

Encore Activities // Kenosha

It’s getting close to the time that we are headed to Shipshewana, IN again and I hope you are getting excited! I know I am! We think we have a great schedule prepared for you.

We will plan to leave the church at 8:00 am on Thursday, May 21st. You can arrive between 7:30 – 7:45 so we can get loaded and be ready to head out right on time. Come into the church lobby so we can be sure everyone is there and to pray with Pastor Dan. We will be boarding the bus in the back lot (between Aurora Hospital and church). School is still in session and begins at 8:30. The parking lots get really busy in the morning, so please help us beat the rush. It is not a problem to leave your car, but please park in the far north part of that lot which is closest to the CLS vehicles.

As usual, our coach driver will make a “comfort stop” on the way down and depending on the time, we will stop for a quick lunch as we get close to our destination. We do lose an hour on the way over, and it’s only a 3 ½ trip, so we will determine some of that as the day progresses.

We will be staying at the Farmstead Inn and Conference center in Shipshewana. (Phone for your family is 260-768-4595). When we arrive, we will check to see if our rooms are ready. If they are, we will take some time to get settled and get ready for our first event which is scheduled at 4:00. If we are very early, you can start exploring the city.

The afternoon/evening are very full, with the “American 250 Celebration“ show, family style Amish meal and the Texas Tenors concert. Nothing stays open late in Shipshewana, so bring along some games, books, or a swim suit (there is a pool at the motel) if you are not ready to go to bed after the show.

Friday morning will be free time. Breakfast is available at the motel. You can sleep in late if you want to but this is your chance to explore the town. Many of the stores don’t open before 9:30 or 10:00, but you can find a friend and go out and find a cup of coffee earlier – go swimming in the indoor pool – read a book? Whatever you want – but you are free until our show which is scheduled at 1:00. Check out time at the motel is 11:00, so you will want to get everything ready to go in the morning. During this free time you will want to include lunch or a snack because we need to be back at the Blue Gate by 12:45 to be ready for the show. When the show is over, we will head out immediately for our meal at the Essenhaus restaurant which will be about 4:00. If you have not been there, it will be another exciting adventure. Following that meal, we will head back to Kenosha; planning to arrive back about 8:00 (we gain an hour coming back!)

The price you paid takes care of everything except your personal shopping/spending… coach bus/drivers tip/motel/entertainment events/main meals.

If you have further questions, don’t be afraid to ask. You can text me at 262-945-5586 or email at [email protected]

Thank you,

Marge – for Pastor Dan and Alexia
