Washington Activity Coordinators Association

Washington Activity Coordinators Association WACA is a professional organization that supports anyone who serves student leaders. With this in mind, the first conference was held in the spring of 1971.

Located in Washington State, we hold an annual professional leadership conference and events throughout the year focusing on building culture and project management. The annual Washington Activity Coordinators Association conference began its long and heralded history back in 1970, when a group of Seattle area activity coordinators voted to get together and underwrite a conference. Under the direc

tion of Walt Dawson of Shorecrest High School, Coke Roberts of West Seattle High School, Pat Woodward of Cleveland High School, and Fritz Mahlert of Nathan Hale High School, funds for the first conference were partially defrayed by the generous contributions of business firms who exhibited their products. This supportive tradition has continued to this day, with our ongoing support of our partners. Members are from middle level, junior high, and high schools and a variety of activity areas. Delegates include activity coordinators, cheer coaches, ASB and club advisers, administrators, athletic directors, leadership teachers, and activity secretaries and book keepers.

WACA’s Professional Development sessions bring educators together to share ideas, build connections, and discover practical strategies that strengthen student leadership and school culture. Each session is designed to provide real tools and inspiration that advisors can take directly back to their schools.
