Tomorrow our 2026/2027 school year begins and we couldn’t be more thrilled to spotlight our second 4th grade teacher -

🙏 Mrs. Shannon Bogen 🙌

CDA has been richly blessed by the addition of Mrs. Bogen to our staff this year. Let’s get to know her!

👩🏽‍🏫 Mrs. Bogen began teaching at Liberty Christian School when her children were entering Pre-K and kindergarten. Fast-forward 27 years and now her sweet granddaughters are beginning their own school journeys as Coram Deo Pre-K and kindergarten students. When they asked their Granny to teach at their school, how could she say no?

👩🏽‍🏫👩🏼‍🏫 Mrs. Bogen is delighted to be co-teaching fourth grade with Mrs. Smith, her longtime friend and former colleague. With great joy, she will teach reading, writing, history, and Bible, sharing with her students the beauty and richness of classical Christian education.

We thank the Lord for providing Coram Deo Academy with experienced teachers who love the Lord and are deeply passionate about the subjects they teach. Please join us in welcoming Mrs Bogen to the CDA family!

With 1️⃣ week left until school….

We are pleased to introduce our PE/Fitness Team - Mr & Mrs Thomsen 🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏽‍♀️

Let’s get to know them!

🧑🏻‍🏫 Mr Thomsen returns to CDA for his 2nd year and, in addition to teaching to PE/Fitness, will be teaching Biology, Astronomy and now serves as the Chairman of the Board.

👩🏽‍🏫 Mrs Thomsen also returns for her 2nd year and will be teaching PE/Fitness the second half of the year. She is excited to return after soaking up time with their 5th baby 👶🏽

🧑🏻‍🏫 Mr Thomsen received bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Political Science from Washington State University. For the past 11 years, he has worked in the IT industry and is currently employed at the Hanford site.

👩🏽‍🏫 Mrs Thomsen holds a degree in Accounting from WSU and owns a nutrition coaching business, blending her love for wellness with a practical approach to balanced living. She is a NASM Certified Nutrition Coach and PN Master Health Coach - all which essentially mean Mrs. Thomsen really digs learning about how God made our bodies!

🧑‍🏫👩🏽‍🏫 Mr & Mr Thomsen have 4 children (1 on the way) - 3 of whom will be attending CDA. They are a family who love the Lord and are excited to serve the families of Coram Deo Academy this year!

We are thankful for the Lord’s continued provision in providing students and faculty for the 2026/2027 school year!

We are absolutely DELIGHTED to introduce one of our two new 4th grade teachers, Mrs. Smith 🙌 We praise God for His gracious provision.

Let’s get to know her!

🎗️Mrs. Smith has over 35 years of teaching experience in prek-6th grade in homeschooling, private (LCS), public, resource room, Sunday School, Camp, AWANA, VBS and private tutoring. In addition, she spent several years as a student teacher supervisor at Western Governor’s University.

📚She comes to Coram Deo with a master’s degree in ESL, a BA in Elementary Education with minors in both psychology and history, and a Bible school certificate from Torchbearers Bible School. She is also ACSI certified.

👩🏽‍🏫After retiring from full time teaching in 2025, she found she missed teaching kids! This year she is looking forward to teaching math, science and Bible the first few hours of their day.

⛷️Mrs Smith graduated from WSU. She has a close family with 3 mostly grown children. She loves to play pickleball, ski, and travel with her husband and kids.

With only 4 weeks left before we begin the school year, we'd like to highlight one of our amazing Logic-stage teachers - Mrs. Kilkenny!

Mrs. Kilkenny wears many hats and has taught a variety of subjects here at CDA. Her passion for teaching and her love for the Lord have blessed so many students - let's get to know her!

🔸🔸🔸 Introducing Mrs. Kilkenny 🔸🔸🔸

📖 Favorite book of the Bible to teach: It depends on the age group! I especially enjoy James and Luke.

🏛️ Favorite period of history: The Late Modern period is my favorite.

👤 Historical figure you'd love to have dinner with: I think I would be too intimidated to remember my questions, but probably Augustine.

📚 Favorite classic book: It is impossible to choose just one favorite, but Anne of Green Gables and Little Men are the books I’ve reread the most.

✍️ Favorite writing assignment or project to teach: My favorite writing assignment is the Invention Convention persuasive essay in IEW.

☕ Favorite coffee (or tea) order: I prefer coffee with enough sugar to not taste like coffee.

🎵 Favorite hymn or worship song: That’s hard to answer, but I often tear up when I hear the students sing Holy Forever.

🌿 Favorite way to spend a Saturday: Spending time with my family, reading, or working on a puzzle.

💙 What do you hope every student takes away from Traditio?

I hope that every student leaves with a desire to seek truth by looking to God for wisdom and discernment, to reason well, and communicate with boldness and grace.

One Final Question....
Why do you love teaching Traditio?

I love hearing students wrestle with difficult questions and apply logic skills to discern truth. I am continually amazed at the depth and insight from students and am thankful for the opportunity to discuss important topics through the lens of Scripture.

💛 What virtue do you most hope your students grow in this year?

I’d love for my students to grow in HOPE (relentless expectation that God will keep his promises/ confident trust), LOVE (loving God, others and themselves by learning about how Jesus loved and reflecting his example) and FORTITUDE (holding strong and fast even when trials happen).

🌱 What do you most look forward to teaching the 1st & 2nd graders this year?

I’m excited to share my love for Jesus with my students. After being a public school special education teacher for 7 years, I’m excited to pray with my students, read the Bible with them and incorporate God in every subject!

🏡 Favorite family tradition: Finding all the places around town to see Christmas lights & making a birthday cake for Jesus/ singing Him happy birthday!

☕ Coffee order: Any iced coffee! My current go to has been Starbucks’ iced pistachio latte!

✨ One fun fact about yourself: I was a teacher of the Visually Impaired for 4 years. My favorite part of that job was teaching my students Braille!

We are truly so blessed to have Mrs. Inman teaching at CDA this year!! We hope it is the first of many blessed years 🙏
