Hello. My name is Sheila Turner, and from 2001 to 2021. I provided the in-home independent living skills training at the center. This is a program offered by the Washington state Department of services for the blind. It is their over 55 program. I served clients in six different counties in Eastern Washington: Benton Franklin Yakima, Walla Walla, Columbia, and Klickitat. during my time at the Edith Bishel center. I served under several executive directors, but I always maintained the independent living program until 2021, when the Edith Bishal center decided not to contract with the Washington state Department of services for the blind, and my position was eliminated from their organization. Since then, I have been working through the DSB contract for myself. You can now/still obtain in-home independent living services for the aforementioned- counties through Legacy Independent Living Services. My page is about to be updated. But I am a contractor with the Washington state Department of services for the blind. If you go to www.dsb.wa.gov and look under independent living, you will find the map and my business listed.
I have no idea why I am still able to post on this page. Someone put me on it as a moderator several years ago, and I have no idea how to get into it to cancel it.
I am trying to let everyone know that as of August, the Edith Bishel Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired will no longer be open. If you are in need of any independent living in home services for yourself or a loved one, please email me at legacy [email protected]. You can look me up also at visionmatters.net. Thank you very much everyone for your support of the Edith Bishal Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired throughout the years.
To any of my friends on Facebook, who have been following me on this page, please share this? Thank you.
