"Where do I go if I already checked in online?"

"Where will I find my bags?"

“What happens if I need help finding my gate?”

Questions like this become easier to answer when language skills are built through real-life experiences.

Today, B5 Adult English Learning Students stepped outside the classroom and into the Tri-Cities Airport. Don shared insights about airport careers and guided students through the airport, giving them the opportunity to ask questions, learn new vocabulary, and better understand how airports operate.

These hands-on experiences help learners gain the confidence they need to navigate everyday situations, pursue employment opportunities, and move toward greater self-sufficiency.

At B5, language learning is about more than words—it’s about opening doors.

Thank you, Tri-Cities Airport, for welcoming our Adult Learners!

B5 had the opportunity to participate in the Girls on the Run 5K for Southeast Washington. We successfully brought 10 girls to the event thanks to the generous sponsorship of Soroptimist International of Pasco-Kennewick, along with the support of B5 staff, B5 volunteers, and our community partners. What an amazing event!

Thank you for wonderful evening, Kennewick Police Department! This event is so special and we love to see our families connecting with resources in our community.

Thank you to the many volunteers who made this event possible!

Community BBQ

Last night, we had the opportunity to connect with members of our community in a positive and meaningful way. With support from the KPD Foundation, the Kennewick Police Department hosted a community BBQ at the B5 Learning Center in Kennewick. Many of the families in attendance are new to our area and represent countries from around the world. The event provided an opportunity to build relationships, share resources, and showcase the services the police department offers to our community.

B5 is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting immigrant and refugee families as they overcome language, literacy, and cultural barriers. The learning center provides language classes for adults, along with tutoring and enrichment activities for children.

This event was made possible through funding from the KPD Foundation, donated gifts, support from B5, the efforts of the KPD Special Services Division, and the dedication of our valued CHIPS volunteers and KPD Foundation board members. The photo shown captures just a portion of the families who attended for food, conversation, and connection.

We want to thank everyone who helped make this meaningful annual event possible!

Check out B5's 2025 Annual Report!

It is amazing to look back on all that YOU made happen in 2025. Sometimes we can get so focused on the next step that we forget to look back at how far we've come. Thank you for donating your time, skills, and dollars and for joining B5 in creating a welcoming community.

Huge thanks to Tariq for spreading kindness and positivity on our B5 grounds! He spent his afternoon clearing out weeds and picking up trash, inspiring us all to make a difference. 🌟

Our students shine bright with their thoughtful gestures, from delivering sweet treats to cleaning up our building, they show us that every effort counts in creating a warm and welcoming space. We're so grateful for their enthusiasm and dedication to making our community a better place! 💕

✨ Real progress. Real impact.

Since January, 53 students committed 45+ hours to learning English—and the results speak for themselves:
📈 34 students improved in one or more English skills
📊 11 students advanced to a higher overall English level

That’s not just numbers—that’s confidence growing, opportunities expanding, and lives changing.

Every step forward matters. And in our classrooms, those steps are happening every day. ❤️

Please consider supporting this impact through volunteer work or a monthly donation that will allow students to continue to be served at B5 Learning Center.

To our B5 sponsors thank you. Because of your commitment, our students were able to reach the state tournament and earn an impressive 56th place out of 246 teams. For many of our kids, this was their first time ever attending a state competition, and your support made that milestone possible. B5 Chess Team.
