The Kennewick Fire Department is an ALS/transporting agency that provides fire rescue and emergency medical services to the citizens of Kennewick. Our mission is to protect the lives and property of the citizens and visitors of our community from fires, natural and manmade disasters and traumatic or life threatening medical emergencies. To that end, the Fire Department works to maintain a fire saf
e and informed community and responds to almost 10,000 calls a year. Our population is approximately 80,000 and growing daily. The Kennewick Fire Department is responsible for providing emergency medical and fire protection to over 25 square miles and, in addition, provides EMS services to 300 miles of surrounding County area. Kennewick has a diverse economic base ranging from the nuclear industry to agricultural. We are located near the confluence of the Yakima, Snake and Columbia Rivers. We are an agency of 80 employees consisting of nine staff members and 71 full-time paid line firefighters. Each shift is commanded by a Battalion Chief with five Captains to run each of our five Fire Stations. The Kennewick Fire Department maintains emergency apparatus that consists of five engines, one 105' aerial ladder truck, five ALS medic units, one grass firefighting unit, one command vehicle and six staff vehicles. Firefighters belong to the Local 1296 International Association of Firefighters Union who negotiate for wages and benefits with the City of Kennewick.
