There is no better time to brush up on your Scout’s Protect Yourself Rules than summertime! ☀️

Cub Scouts protect themselves by learning the “Protect Yourself Rules,” which include identifying safe and unsafe touches, using the buddy system, and practicing “Shout, Run, and Tell” if they ever feel unsafe. These youth protection lessons are required for rank advancement at every level and help Scouts recognize, respond to, and report unsafe situations.

These skills are important not only when out and about during summer activities, but all the time. This includes online as well.

Nothing like a little morning exploration at the McNary Wildlife Nature Area in Umatilla, OR! We had so much fun discussing the different plants and birds we spotted along the way. One of the highlights was getting to quietly watch a bird nesting in her nest.

I’m especially proud of our scouts, who without any prompting, started helping clean up the area by gathering garbage they found along the trail — including fishing bait, line, and hooks. It was a great example of Scouts living the values of stewardship, kindness, and leaving nature better than we found it. 🌿🦅♻️

There is still time to register for this year’s Blue Mountain Council, Scouting America Day Camp! While we cannot guarantee t-shirt sizes at this time, we CAN guarantee that your children entering 1st–5th grade will have an absolute blast.

Not currently registered in Scouts? No problem!

When registering:

• Register your child under “Joining Scout”
• Register any attending adults under “Walking Leader”

This DOES NOT mean you are committing to joining Scouts. It simply lets your family experience the Cub Scout program firsthand to see how it could fit your child(ren) and your family’s lifestyle.

Tiny but mighty! Our precious little Lions have crossed the bridge and are no longer the youngest in the pack. Welcome to the Tiger club!

You came, you played, and you worked hard to earn your Lion rank. Now it’s time to kick it into high gear — play harder, learn more, and take on new adventures as Tigers.
