Good morning everybody:
We pray you and your family are safe and healthy!
For 12 months, we have stood alongside families, seniors, and residents facing unsafe and uninhabitable housing conditions. We listened to tenants. We held community meetings. We documented concerns. We educated residents about their rights under Missouri statutes and federal housing laws.
Together, we brought awareness to housing challenges impacting our community by filing reports and complaints with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, HUD, PSC (publicservice commission), and the Department of Justice. We shared resources, legal protections, and information so that families would know their rights and have a voice.
But advocacy is not only about exposing problems, it is about creating pathways toward solutions.
Now, we are taking the next step.
We are working to revitalize our neighborhoods by empowering individuals and families to become homeowners. Too many people believe homeownership is out of reach because of credit challenges. We want our community to know that homeownership is attainable. During this seminar, we will assist participants in pulling their credit reports, identifying barriers, and beginning the process of building a pathway toward homeownership in real time.
Representative from USDA and DAEOC will be present to share information and assist with the credit repair process.
We are also committed to helping our seniors remain safe and independent in the homes they have worked so hard to build. Adults 62 years of age and older may qualify for home repair assistance and grants ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 for critical safety improvements such as windows, doors, accessibility modifications, ramps, walk-in tubs, and other essential repairs.
THIS IS MORE THAN A SEMINAR!
This is housing stability.
This is community revitalization.
This is empowerment.
This is faith put into action.
Join us Wednesday, June 17, from 5:00 PM–7:00 PM at St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church, 324 West Commercial Street, Kennett, Missouri.
ILLINOIS AND ARKANSAS RESIDENTS ARE WELCOMED!
Bring your questions. Leave with a plan.
Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins; You will raise up the age-old foundations;
And you will be called the repairer of the breach,
The restorer of the streets in which to dwell.” Isaiah 58:12
Together, we are not simply repairing houses, we are helping repair lives, restore hope, and rebuild communities for generations to come.
