Thank you Bootheel Beacon for the kind words and the support! π β€οΈ π
KENNETT, Mo. - Friends, neighbors and supporters across the Bootheel are rallying around Lisa Cox.
A community benefit οΏΌdrawing designed to help ease mounting medical and personal expenses as she battles serious health complications was οΏΌorganized by her daughter, and the bootheelbeacon and bootheelbeacon.com encourages people of good will οΏΌto take part.
Lisa has been fighting Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis for years, suffered a stroke last year, and now is hospitalized once again while battling a severe case of double pneumonia.
Her husband, Timothy Cox, is well known throughout Kennett and the Bootheel as the executive director of Helping Hand, the Kennett food pantry and thrift store that has quietly served countless families during some of their hardest moments.
Organizers say the Cox family has spent years feeding the hungry, helping struggling parents and standing beside neighbors in crisis β and now the community is asked to step forward to stand beside them.
βThis fight isnβt just hers alone,β organizer Molly Cox said in announcing the benefit. βIβm hoping we can all come together to show our support.β
The community drawing includes several prize packages donated by local businesses, family and friends, including a Grill & Chill Bundle, a Self-Care Bundle, a Designer Dream Bundle and a 21-and-over Sporting Package drawing.
Molly says the event has already received an overwhelming response from residents eager to give back to a family known for giving so much.
The Grill & Chill package includes a Coleman cooler, gift cards, barbecue accessories, sauces and outdoor items.
The Self-Care Bundle features boutique products, candles, flowers, bath items and spa-themed gifts.
The Designer Dream package includes a Kate Spade tote, jewelry, insulated drinkware and other boutique items.
A separate 21-and-over sporting package drawing includes a Bushmaster AR-15 Carbon 15 package that will be transferred through a licensed federal fi****ms dealer in compliance with all laws and background check requirements.
Donation entries begin at $10 for the community bundles and $20 for the sporting package drawing, with larger donations receiving additional entries.
Molly stressed that donations are voluntary and supporters may contribute without participating in the drawings.
βAll proceeds will go toward her medical expenses, equipment and other essential needs,β Molly said. βWe are blessed with a great community and have truly been overwhelmed by the kindness displayed during this time.β
The drawing is scheduled for 8pm on May 31, with winners announced during a Facebook public livestream.
Those from outside Kennett are also welcome to participate.
Donations may be sent through PayPal at paypal.me/Doranor or through Cash App at $Doranor. Cash donations are also being accepted locally.
Questions may be directed to Molly at (573) 559-6046 or Jordan Jamison at (573) 559-8234 by call or text.
Organizers also expressed gratitude to local businesses and donors helping make the benefit possible, including B2Q BBQ, Blissful Blooms, Southern Sno, Bishopβs Florist, Ignited Gifts, Smokey J BBQ, The Goat Lawncare, Shelbys Garden Center LC, Southern Glo & Boutique and Polka Dot Rooster Boutique.
Supporters are encouraged to share the event, participate if able and continue lifting the Cox family in prayer as the Kennett community once again demonstrates the power of neighbors helping neighbors.
