It is time to kick off our 2026 Senior Spotlights! We are starting with one of our Captains, Frankie Koncir!
He says - Support one another throughout your time here. You’ll be challenged, but doing it together makes it a lot easier than overthinking it alone. I started rowing because my sister forced me to join, but I stayed because of how much I love the team and community built between the upperclassmen and the lowerclassmen. Rowing has meant the world to me because of the commitment it teaches you and the endurance it requires. It pushes you through pain you never thought you could handle, but even through all of that, you still have a team beside you going through it with you.
Favorite pre-race snack - An Arizona and gummies or a Payday (very healthy)
Favorite race - My favorite has to be my Junior year at Nationals in the Junior 8 because I was able to enjoy that race to the fullest no matter what the outcome was. Also my least favorite is Head of the Fish (no one knows what it was like to be in the trenches anymore).

And it is Frankie so there is more - I'm going to move on from crew and start focusing on how I can help the world and the people in it. Crew has taught me discipline, mindfulness, and the importance of supporting the people around you. Those lessons and experiences will stay with me as I begin this next chapter and work toward making a positive impact on others lives.
