Meet our volunteer and Board Member, JoEllen!

What drew you to the organization?
- The work YoungMoms’s was doing to help the young women with their families drew me to the organization. Also, the people I met associated with the organization were kind, helpful women.

What has been your favorite part of volunteering?
- My two favorites are driving the moms and children to doctor appointments and childcare during the Life Skills Workshops. Recently, a little boy decorated my back seat window with stickers. He was giving me the stickers, and he gave me a big hug too. That is an example of what you experience.

During a recent Cultivating Community Group, our young moms gathered virtually to explore Career Link, a resource dedicated to helping individuals strengthen their career skills.

Led by Youth Career Advisor, Leilani Brennan, the workshop introduced mothers to available resources, scholarships, and supportive services designed to help them reach their goals. Support includes:
- Career Resources
- Resume Help
- Interview Skills
- Continuing Education

Since the virtual small group session, mothers have already begun meeting with Leilani and enrolling in the program!

- Your mental health matters every single day.
- Taking care of yourself is an act of strength — and you never have to do it alone.

At YoungMoms, we are here to walk alongside you, every step of the way. Let’s keep the conversation going, lead with understanding, and continue to break the stigma and show up for ourselves and each other.

When more is needed, help is available 24/7. Call or text 988 anywhere in the U.S. Learn more: 988lifeline.org

At YoungMoms, we believe caring for young families means supporting every part of their well-being. Guided by the Eight Dimensions of Wellness Model, we deliver a holistic, two-generation approach to help them build strong, stable futures.

Through every car seat certification, parenting lesson, and ride to the doctor, supporting young mothers creates a ripple effect that helps their children grow up safe, healthy, and thriving. Together, we’re empowering two generations and strengthening the southern Chester County community one family at a time. Learn more and support our mission at youngmomschestercounty.org.

When moms care for their own mental health, they’re better able to care for the people who depend on them.

At our April workshop, our mothers learned about four life skills that can help caregivers and children regulate emotions, and they gained access to free online resources to use at home.

Participants explored the “Four Skills You Have That Your Kids Need”:

1. Attention 3. Resilience
2. Balance 4. Connection

Our moms now have practical techniques to help them create more balance, connection, and emotional wellness at home. Thank you to Rana Sakr, MD for engaging our moms in an important Life Skills Workshop!

Parents and caregivers are often the first to notice when something feels different. Changes in mood, sleep, appetite or behavior may signal a young person needs support.

At YoungMoms, we know that caring for your mental well-being is just as important as caring for your child. This May, we’re raising awareness and breaking the stigma — because every young mom deserves support, hope, and healing.
You are never alone.
