For many of the volunteers helping bring the picnic to life, the idea began with a simple hope: to create a visible, joyful place for LGBTQ people and families to find one another close to home.

“When I started thinking about this event, I kept thinking about my wife and son,” said Nicole Hilson, one of the Brandywine Pride volunteers. “I wanted him to have a place where he could see and meet other families like ours. I wanted him to know that our family is part of a larger community.”

On Saturday, May 30, 2026, Brandywine Pride will host their first Brandywine Pride Picnic at Anson B. Nixon Park from 11-2 p.m.

We’re putting together a joyful, community-centered picnic celebration—and we’re looking for talented LGBTQ+ musicians to help bring the vibes to life!

Whether you’re a solo artist, part of a band, choir, acoustic, electric, experimental, or anything in between, we want to hear you! This is a space to celebrate q***r creativity, connect with community, and share your sound in an inclusive, welcoming environment.

EVENT LOGISTICS
- Performances will take place in the bandshell of Anson Nixon Park
- We will provide speakers, microphones and amp hook ups
- All participating groups will be notified of their set times by May 25th
- Each group will have the opportunity to perform for approximately 20 minutes (some sets may be slightly longer or shorter at Brandywine Pride’s discretion)
