Kennesaw Cemetery Preservation Foundation The Kennesaw Cemetery Preservation Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to supporting the Kennesaw City Cemetery.

Through events, the Foundation also works to raise awareness of this unique space.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make the first-ever cemetery art exhibit in Kennesaw possible! The closing reception was yesterday, and it was great to meet the artists and learn more about their work.

Thank you to Vanita Keswani at Smith-Gilbert Gardens for coordinating the exhibit, and to artists Margaret Waage, David Brown, Fred Ortyl, Ken Stockdell, and Andrew Bramlett.

Experience Serenity in the Summer at the Ben Robertson Community Center, a photography exhibition featuring the work of local artists who have captured the quiet beauty and peaceful landscapes of cemeteries from around the world.

The community is invited to a reception on Saturday, August 15, from 12 – 2 PM at the Ben Robertson Community Center to view the exhibit and celebrate the featured artists.

Join the Kennesaw Cemetery Preservation Foundation and the City of Kennesaw’s Cemetery Preservation Commission for the Symbols of the Cemetery Walking Tour, an evening exploring the gravestone symbolism throughout the historic Kennesaw City Cemetery.

We are very excited to share that the Kennesaw Cemetery Preservation Foundation’s new self-guided walking tour can now be found in the Kennesaw City Cemetery. This walking tour spotlights 10 notable residents of the cemetery. A map in on display in the kiosk at the front of the cemetery, and can be found online at https://kennesawcemetery.org/history/.

Join the Kennesaw Cemetery Preservation Foundation and the City of Kennesaw’s Cemetery Preservation Commission for the Symbols of the Cemetery Walking Tour on June 21 at 6 PM.

Gravestones throughout historic cemeteries are filled with symbols of life and death, but modern visitors may not be familiar with how to interpret these details. During this tour, attendees will learn about gravestone symbolism and what it tells us about the lives of various cemetery residents.

The tour begins in the parking lot of the Kennesaw City Cemetery. This walking tour is a little over a half-mile long and does not stay on the paved paths inside the cemetery. The tour will last about an hour and a half.

This annual fundraiser supports the Kennesaw Cemetery Preservation Foundation and the historic Kennesaw City Cemetery. Each October, actors portray different residents of our cemetery. Visitors can take a guided walk and meet each resident.

This year, we invite you to volunteer (as an actor or as part of the support team) with the tour as we explore American history through the cemetery to help celebrate America’s 250th birthday. Each resident we will highlight will help share the story of the United States from 1776 to today.
