Good afternoon (2/26)!

The recent increase in temperatures has made the road to MWP very soft and muddy. We have tree work going on with trucks and it may be dangerous to try to drive around them. The entrance will be coned off for the afternoon as the tree work continues. Thanks for understanding!

Good morning! Sharing an update on our progress of blazing the new (red) cross-preserve trail. We've made it completely through to Oak Ridge Road although clearing work remains in the middle. The trail is marked with yellow tape and some orange tape. We'll be placing red blazes (hundreds!), intersection markers and informative markers soon. If you wish to join us Mia Meister and Juliann Lapierre lead volunteer excursions every Wednesday (1p-4p ish) and Sunday (9a-12p).

It is gorgeous out there. Peaceful and serene. Lot's of beautiful red pines, mossy rock out cropping's, small lichen fields, and more. It has cool dark areas and bright open areas.

We can't wait for you to explore it!

The first week of trail blazing (new trail) is in the books! Thank you Juliann, Mia and our volunteers!

For those of you familiar with the red trail and where it currently terminates just over the arched bridge, the trail will continue from there. At the moment the trail is marked with yellow ribbon. The pine loop is complete and cleared and it’s beautiful. We’ll place blazes there soon.

If you’d like to volunteer and help us, details can be found here:

Good morning friends!

Today (7/18) we’ll have a tree company in and around the dog area to remove trees that recently fell and trees that have potential to be dangerous. They may be there a good part of the day.

Thanks for understanding.

Good morning!

We’re super excited to announce that two University of New England Sustainability Fellows have joined the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust this summer!

Meet recent UNE graduates and Fellows Juliann Lapierre and Mia Meister! They will be at Meadow Woods Preserve this summer and their primary objective will be to advance our management plan of the preserve, to plot new trails and to identify and plot areas where there are invasive plant species.

If you see them out there, please take a moment today hello and share what you love most about Meadow Woods Preserve.

Good morning friends!
Sharing as an FYI... We are aware of the very large pine tree that blew down across the pond trail. Given it's size we've called in the professionals to remove it. Ours is one of hundreds, if not thousands of trees that came down in the last storm. It may take a little time for it to be removed.

Thank you Shelley and The Village for helping share the news of our off-leash area. It remains a work in progress as we have signs and waste bag dispensers to place there. We'll also be working to raise money to place natural stone and traditional park style benches in the enclosure. In the interim please feel welcome to enjoy the area.

Donations can be made in person at the Trust HQ on Gravelly Brook Road or via our webiste: https://www.kporttrust.org/donate-1

Good morning! We hope you are enjoying the beautiful spring weather. As some of you may have already discovered, the fence work for our off-leash dog area has been completed. The total enclosed area is approximately 2 acres with multi-tiered open areas and areas of mature coniferous and deciduous trees that will provide a beautiful and natural canopy.

Our committee is working on developing policies and guidelines to ensure it will be a fun and safe place to take your dogs for exercise and interaction with others. In the interim, please feel welcome to enjoy the area while being respectful of others.

Stay tuned here for more information. Also watch for more information in the May edition of The Village.

Kennebunkport Conservation Trust

Since 1973, the Trust has been preserving special places in Kennebunkport. It began with a threat to our lands. The community worked with us to protect these properties that were in danger of development. With the help of our members, KCT has conserved over 2,300 acres, created over 19 miles of trails, maintained harbor islands for public use, restored a historic lighthouse and boathouse, established educational programs, built a headquarters for community gatherings, and has created a special Trust family in Kennebunkport. We welcome all to join us.
