Soccer Saves is happy to announce an exciting new relationship with Tynecastle FC, one of the finest youth soccer programs in the State of Washington. Phil McDonald, President of Tynecastle, together with Soccer Saves Executive Director Shelli Dean and President and Co-Founder Cliff McCrath approved the partnership in an April 26, 2012, meeting of the two organizations.
The partnership will augment the humanitarian efforts of Soccer Saves with Tynecastle's community outreach programs as well as allow for cooperative endeavors such as the upcoming 3v3 tournament scheduled for June 3 at Eastside FC’s Preston Fields. Eastside is donating field space for the tournament, open to both boys' and girls’ teams U-10 through U17/19. The proceeds from the tournament will go towards funding the first Clubhouse and Community Center (CCC) scheduled for later this year in Underberg, South Africa. (Land for the CCC has been donated by a SA businessman, through the Generation Joy Foundation.) GenJoy.org is directed by Curtis Betzler, faculty member at Beaver Lake Middle School and enthusiastically championed by Shelli’s daughter Riley and her friend Britta who are the co-presidents.
McCrath said, “This is a marvelous and exciting partnership, inspired by Phil McDonald and the Tynecastle Club families that will have an enormous impact on the lives of teenagers in this needy area of South Africa!” McDonald added, “We feel that helping make a difference in the lives of needy teenagers is not even a choice; it’s our moral imperative! And this is what the Tynecastle program is all about!”
