DAV Roll Of Honor, chapter 120, Kenmore NY Disabled American Veterans; Roll Of Honor Chapter 120, Kenmore NY. Veterans serving veterans, caring.

As a local group, we provide free assistance to veterans and their families in obtaining benefits and services earned through military service and provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other agencies of government. We provide resources that are needed, we donate to various veterans outreach programs such as the Homeless Program, The Behavioral Health inpatient programs (Three in

Batavia, 3 in Buffalo), and we provide disabled veterans with household items, food, gift certificates and holiday specials throughout the year. Legislatively, we support and represent the interests of disabled veterans, their families, their widowed spouses and their orphans before Congress, the White House, and the Judicial Branch, as well as state and local government;extending the DAV's mission of hope into the communities of the veterans' and their families.

At 102 years old, Sheila Pantin, who was one of the first to enter the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp after WW2, has been granted the Freedom of Harrogate.

Sheila joined the ATS at just 17 and, in 1945, was sent to Bergen-Belsen to care for women and children who had survived unthinkable horrors. “I shall smell that place to this day,” she said. "These poor women.”

Now, nearly 80 years later, Harrogate has honoured her “impossibly difficult work” and lifelong dedication to others. ❤️
