Well, we knew Viola had some eye issues, with a partial cataract in her left eye since birth. Canine Companions determined it is likely progressive (ie, will get worse) so she’s been released from service. She rejoined our family this weekend!

She will bring much love to our family and to our campuses as a certified therapy dog once we get through the training and certification process.

Stay tuned…the adventure continues.

We’ve entered the month of “lasts” as Viola gets ready to enter the next phase of her training (aka, heads to college): Last trip to the vet, last snuggles on the bed, last trips around town, last pub, last romp in the yard with Redford, last trip to the beach, last bath, etc.

You might think after seven it would get easier, but it doesn’t. Each one is special. Each one steals a piece of your heart and gives you a piece of theirs. And each one of them helps make the world a little better place for someone.

But it’s just as hard all the same…
