Robert Miller connected for 12 completions for 196 yards and two touchdown passes as Wallington took down Brearley, 20-13, in its season opener in Kenilworth.
Kicking off a back-and-forth first quarter was Maxwell Lettsome, who rushed for a 15-yard touchdown to give Wallington (1-0) a 7-0 lead. After Brearley (0-1) tied the game with an 83-yard kickoff returned for a touchdown, Miller tossed his first touchdown pass of the game to Joey Roman for 65 yards to retake the lead, 13-7.
Wallington failed on its extra point attempt as Brearley scored on a 39-yard run, tying the game at 13-13. Brearley had its extra point attempt blocked by Wallington game remained tied.
After a quiet second quarter, Wallington took the lead for good as Miller found Jordan Kassteen for a 19-yard touchdown pass to take a 20-13 lead. Kassteen was successful on his extra point as Wallington held on to win.
Nick Sinclair led al runners for Wallington with 11 carries for 72 yards, including a 23-yard run for his longest of the game. Miller had 10 carries for 54 yards.
Roman had five receptions for 112 yards while Lettsome had a pair of catches for 36 yards. Kassteen had two catches for 22 yards.
Kassteen also had an interception to lead the Wallington defense. Jeremy Abreu recovered a fumble and Michael Miller recorded a sack.
